Let me just start off saying that I know there are very VERY many fan-based theories out there about who or what the Forerunners are. My theory hasn't had much thought put into it and it's more just coming to me as I go, I am also going on what i remember from the Halo games and books. I hope you take the time to read it, post on it, blow it to bits, whatever you want.

You might think it is stupid but could the Flood be the Forerunners? Maybe the sentinals and 343 GS aren't linked to the Forerunners in a good way at all. Think about the Humans and the Covenant, they have been waging war for some time now and it seems that they are somewhat of a perfect match for fighting all in all. Now if you look at the Flood and the Sentinals, they are a pretty good match all in all. Maybe the flood have evolved to jump so high as a way to combat the flying capabilities of Sentinals. Also maybe the flood not really having areas of residence like you would think something like Forerunners would have is because the Sentinals have captured them hence why the flood are in holding cells. Covenant, being primative at the time, somehow picked up strange radio signals or computer languages, on primative computers or radios, the Sentinals were broad-casting out through the reaches of space to reach maybe now their machine driven homeworld. The Ark could have been somehow built by Forerunners/Flood as a way of preserving the only food that the Halo's could not reach. Which brings me to the Halo's. We have all thought that flood are bad and the only way to really destroy them is to activate the Halo's and destroy every living thing including humanity. What if the flood really aren't bad and they really aren't stupid, maybe just confused. Confused and thinking that us Humans and Covenant in our battle armours look very robotic and Sentinal like to the ever natural living Forerunners/Flood. Now speaking of the floods intelligence has lead me to think of Gravemind. Gravemind I believe as well as many others, is the leader of the flood and knows all about the devious lies of the so called "Oracle" 343 GS. From my understanding and relating to my theory Gravemind is the almighty captured leader of the Forerunners/Flood. After many years of listening to the Sentinals lie to the covenant, he finally has three major components of the war to listen to him for a change, Master Chief (Human) Arbiter (Covenant) and Cortana (Machine/A.I.). What a lucky find for Gravemind... Or was it so lucky? He seems to have randomly picked MC great potential power over humanity, an Arbiter also great potential power over the covenant, and he has Cortana so far known as the most "smart" A.I. in the universe. Gravemind gathering these specific three all into a group seems to have resulted in him having great intelligence and hearing! in knowing of these three and their potential powers. He would now proceed into telling them the truth about who is who in this war. Saying all of this however has made me think about the idea of the Ark having to be something more than a way of just "preserving food" for themselves. Any ideas on that relating to my theory would be nice to hear. Oh and i don't know if anyone will link this but the Sentinals have noticed the total religious beliefs of the Covenant and are using their naive thoughts on the concept to activate the Halo's and destroy all living things known to them.

Before you start posting and you still think the flood are bad and are out to just consume. Think about the theory of maybe a form of parasitic life known as the Flood (Forerunners) have evolved past all odds and beat out the evolutions of mammals, reptiles, amphibians and all other classes of animals, and have risen up dominant as we humans/mammals have over our forms of bacteria today. This is my theory on the whole shroud of mystery known as The Halo Universe. Again I encourage any sort of feedback you may have whether it be good or bad. Hope you enjoyed my thoughts! Remember, always root for the under-dog!

1. That was a bump.

2. I seriously doubt anyone really cares to read any more Forrunner theories.

3. Whatever.

Alright, I read it, just for the sake of not being a jerk, as the poster above..

Actually, it's a great theory. I was actually thinking the Forerunner might not exist, and the Gravemind is behind it all, setting up one lie to another. Maybe he's just using the whole "Forerunner built this to contain the flood" in a much deeper plot to get the Flood to spread even further... Your theory does have an intreresting idea to it. :)

Eh... it's not that really, it's just that I don't really care to read any more "theories"... I'll wait to see what's what when the game comes out. Sorry bout that.

Please don't double post or bump. You spent a long time and I assume put alot of though into that, don't waste it by getting your thread locked.

Interresting theory.. i thought about that as well (The forerunners being the flood) Untill it struck me that humans are the forerunners :P
I think that we somehow are related to forerunners, and thats why the huge forerunner facility is on earth. Either that, or the forerunners (made us) maybe to protect the facility or something...

Ever read the books? The books destroy this thread when you get the floods first person view. Also how could the Sentinals come into being, did they make themselfs from nothing? Highly unlikely and if you think about it it does not make sense. Too many problems to post so I'll leave this being it.

After I did post it I tought about how the sentinals came to be im not really sure it could be a number of things but im not suggesting they popped out of thin air im just saying that now the sentinals are all that remains of their world and do not like the natural flood or forerunners

hmmm maybe the flood(forerunner) might have built teh sentinals to protect them from something (an evil race that was to destroy the flood) but that race make a computer virus that infected all of the sentinals and turned them evil. they also made halo to combat these enemies, but dint relize that it could in turn kill them

The flood aren't smart enuff to build. They can hardly work the memories in their hosts (to use weapons, and fly the pelicans).

My theory hasn't had much thought put into it

I was going to give this thread a chance, but when you start it off by saying this ... you kind of make it seem useless.
