The flood are supposed to come in HALO 3, we all know that.

But on HALO 2, that point where the flood gets Mercy, he can still talk!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the flood inject stuff into the nervous system to completley paralyze the body. This was in the books when Keyes got stuck.

So how does this tie into HALO 3 you may ask.

Could the prophets have some kind of delay upon the effects of flood? I don't really believe this, but the talking thing just doesn't add up.

I am...whimsical today.

Maybe the Infection form was working at it, or it takes a little time to take full effect. Mercy really didn't sound too good, so there was some effect.

I believe the Gravemind intentionally fused with him to basically get knoweledge from him to further him plot for universal Flood control.

Judging by mercy's neck where it landed, it shouldn't take long.

Oh and SS_zag1, that's regret you're thinking of.

Oh, you're right. Um, the flood that jumped on him still didn't entirely get him yet, I believe... Maybe it takes some time?

It certainly looked like it was burrowing while he was talking.

Well take a look in Halo 1 when you're about to find Captain Keyes he says "Leave me, Get out!" He could still talk but his voice was a bit disorted and Cotrana says "He must be ill, he's out of his mind we must help him!" Hence it takes some time for the Flood to take full-effect.

The Frozen Minority - The most infamous clan borne from the Seventh Column.

Perhaps it was added for effect; hearing Mercy on his deathbed would have a far greater impact upon the audience than having him tell you his secrets for some reason and then mysteriously getting killed.

It was a way to allow the information to be leaked to the audience while still maintaining the Prophets status in the plot and showing Truth's ruthlessness.

Mercy was absorbed by Gravemind too.

When the Flood take control of a host's mind they can pretty much have access to all their thoughts/memories etc. from what I remember, so that's not it.

The flood on mercy hadn't burrowed in yet because he was holding it away from his neck!

Mercy wasn't killed by the infection form, and when MC starts the mission up, the infection form is gone..if you check his chest, it's not in there.

Come to think of it..I don't think a Prophet could hold an infection form in it's chest, meaning the FLood wouldn't go all the way through with the transformation..

However, Gravemind came and got him, and absorbed him..he let him keep his consciousness, but it seems that he is a little crazy, and slightly controlled..
