Subject: Energy sword question

How do elites activate their energy sword? Do they press a button? In the games I just see them shake it to activate, but that means that if they have the sword holstered and walk, it will activate.
Also what about jackals, how do they activate their energy shield?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just have always wondered.

it's gotta be a button

Possibilities:

-magic
-they're Jedi counterparts
-the sword is alive (i.e. zanpakuto)

Notice the Elites in Reach tossing their sword into the air and activating it. Maybe they have statis fields like the Didact...

:P

For those who wish to contact me on Xbox LIVE, my main account is "The 7th Taco", and the one linked with my profile here is only a backup.

Easter Egg Hunter. Apprentice Tricker/Glitcher (learning from Grumpy and Sliding Ghost).

Trying to get Waypoint to update Halo 3 stats in detail like here. Now no one can see that my Halo 3 Spartan no longer looks like my Reach Spartan.

Really want to be a Heroic member or have a title. :/

They squeeze it.

Can't win an arguement?
Correct their grammer instead

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

I think the way that your in-game character equips the Energy Sword is how it activates.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

If they are Jedi counterparts, then would an energy sword be stronger than a lightsaber?

OT: There has to be some sort of button or something.

This sig will Self-Destruct in 3.... 2.... 1.... Thank you for your time. Cookie?

It's probably a button of some kind.

Shaking it would be silly. Too sensitive. Way too many ways that could backfire.

Pressure sensor I reckon.

That explains the dead man's switch on CE era swords.

Furthermore, I wish swords would be deactivated when they're dropped.

Damn gameplay mechanics.

Citizens of Me! The cruelty of the old Pharaoh is a thing of the past. Let a whole new wave of cruelty wash over this lazy land.

Hear the word of Pharaoh. Build unto me a statue of ridiculous proportion. One billion cubits in height......that I might be remembered for all eternity!

And be quick about it!

I imagine it's a pressure switch, it activates if someone is holding it.

What actually doesn't make sense is the battery draining mechanics, they lose 10% every kill.

Why would they lose charge by killing someone? And yet they can be sustained forever without killing someone?
