Subject: Does Anyone Really Care About Their K/D Ratio ?

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

Ya. My kd is 1.62 I think, better than in Reach, and want it to get better.

If you got a low k/d you are bad.
If you got a low k/d and say k/d doesn't matter then you are bad and delusional.
If you got a high k/d you are a no life.
If you got a high k/d and say k/d doesn't matter you are arrogant.
The "competitive" community in a nutshell.
If you seriously believe that then I feel really sorry for you. You can be competitive without being an asshat.

Personally I don't think you should pay it any attention unless it's something very notable. Such as if you're getting 10 deaths for every kill, you may want to rethink you strategy.

I don't. I mean, Halo 4 at this point is a beta so I couldn't care.

  • 11.27.2012 9:22 AM PDT

What's this K/D thing I keep hearing about? kill death ratio or something?

  • 11.27.2012 9:24 AM PDT

For those who wish to contact me on Xbox LIVE, my main account is "The 7th Taco", and the one linked with my profile here is only a backup.

I don't care at all. I play to have fun, no matter how bad I do.

I've never cared.
My H2 is ~1.3.
My H3 is ~.92
My H4 is ~.6.

With the way I play, it makes it seem H2 multiplayer was the easiest.

Who's got AIDS?

In Halo 4? Lol no. The game is so casual and instant respawn makes it too easy to just run back in there and die.

Paranoia is a very comforting state of mind. If you think they're out to get you, it means you think you matter.

Pretty much this.

But I have a high k/d. Which just makes me better than all of you.

No, I don't judge people based on that statistic for the same reason I don't judge a car solely based on it's Miles Per Gallon...

It isn't our shiznit anymore.

As a flyboy all I'm doing is getting kills, so yes it does matter to me.

  • 11.27.2012 9:59 AM PDT

In H3 I didn't, I had an incentive to Win (exp and skill rank).

In Reach and COD:MW2 I started off caring and maintaining +2K/D but I've realised it doesn't mean -blam!-.

So no, I probably won't care when I get to play Halo 4.

If you kill more then you die, it means you are good at that game
/truth

Yeah the average K/D has to be 1, for reasons quite obvious.
Actually a little less than one because you can die without anyone earning a kill but you can't earn a kill without anyone dying.

  • 11.27.2012 10:19 AM PDT

It depends. In my eyes, a 1.10K/D or above is good, but a good player doesn't always have to have the best K/D. A good player is someone who goes for the objective in each game, encourages teamwork and such.

So in Slayer/Deathmatch gametypes, a high K/D does matter.
In Objective gametypes, the objective is more important.

Don't let fear of rejection stop you from going after what you want

Guess I'm arrogant then. It's too easy for people to farm kills in objective game types, K/D doesn't matter unless it's Slayer. I always have to remind my team to go for the objective since they would much rather get kills.

If a man is not willing to die for something then he is unfit to live.

I dont care about it. You'll start attracting try hards and people who are just compensating for something else if you have a high k/d or win ratio.

Expressing my strong liberal views without shame. Favorite quotes below:

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe."
"One starts to live when he can live outside himself."

I believe Recon said that a 1:1 ratio means that the player and the matchmaking system are working together properly. I'm inclined to agree. Large deviations from 1:1 are the result of poor matchmaking.

I understand nothing because my life is a conspiracy.

Not really, unless it's positive or near positive.

<3

I used to care when I was in grade school and had no job or girlfriend.

Now that I am in college and have responsibilities a girlfriend a basically a life, I couldn't care less about something so insignificant.

Gamertag - Rdog 11

Call me Rdog, not RdOG or RdOG1507. I made that username when I thought it was cool to use alternating capital and lowercase letters...

I know no one will ever see it, but sometimes I think about it a slight bit. (I never worry about it, because no one will ever see it, and besides - who cares?) But I have gradually become less and less worried about it, and having 4 kills and 26 deaths in a game just makes me laugh instead of ticking me off. But in the back of my mind, I still think about it, and check it every now and then out of curiousity. My K/D in Halo 4 is actually above 1.00, which is a first for literally any game I've ever played. So it matters a little bit more in that game, but I still don't put to much thought into it.
