Radiation from a neutron bomb doesn't contaminate the soil or earth of the area, though. The radiation doesn't last very long in comparison to conventional nuclear weapons.
Neutron radiation is very different from alpha, beta, or gamma radiation. It doesn't make elements like carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, sulfur, chromium, or silicon radioactive, which is essentially most of the Earth's composition.
