By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.
Flaccid.
I went to a friend's house today and he downloaded it off the XBL store, I was curious about it so I elected to watch him play and it's just so full of... nothingness. It doesn't have the lore-oriented substance that Leviathan had which was that DLC's only redeeming quality IMO, Omega is just progressing from shooting gallery to shooting gallery with the occasional cutscene thrown in. There's no meaningful conflict, no meaningful growth of character, it's just something that could have been thrown into the vanilla game as a side quest.
And while I absolutely loved Carrie Anne Moss as Aria in ME2, her dialogue in this DLC really lacked any kind of emotive texture to it. It's almost monotonous IMO, her speech with the Talons and the final one when you reclaim Omega were just poor - I'm inclined to blame the writers for this to be honest, Moss didn't seem to get much good material to work with.
Overall, a disappointing DLC and I'm glad I didn't buy it. The music is top-notch as usual, but that's hardly enough to justify 1200MSP...
You know what this could have used? Wrex. Wrex could have been used to tie up the whole Aleena story strand introduced in ME1, and it would have been a damn sight more interesting to give him more of a role in the game rather than pandering to fan service by introducing some random female turian who Aria had some kind of fling with. Wrex's story about his past with Aleena/Aria was engaging, another missed opportunity to provide substance to a previously established but undeverloped aspect of the story.
Anyone else rolling around on the floor with laughter with the glitches in some of the cutscenes where the character models start flailing around the screen? I certainly was.
