Vilma Soltesz, a 407 pound woman, died of Kidney failure because she could not make it back to the US for treatment, due to her being unable to find a plane she could fit in.
Her husband says the airlines were responsible for her death, since they did not make the effort needed to get her the accomodations she needed.
She was first asked to leave a plane when she could not be secured in her seatbelt, and the pilot was concerned she would be a safety risk if she was not properly restrained during flight. Then she was moved to a bigger plane, but found there were no lifts capable of moving her, and she was unable to even board the plane in the first place. The third time she was again unable to fit in a plane seat, and was again asked to leave out of safety concerns for her and other passengers.
The airline offered its condolances, claiming that they could not find a way to transport her on such short notice, even with the help of the Fire Brigade and Technical professionals.
The husband is not satisfied, and seeks lawsuits against each company that denied her a flight.
What I want to know is why she was traveling like this in the first place if she was in such bad condition. If I had her health problems i sure wouldn't go so far away from my doctors. it sounds like the airlines did everything they could, and this guy is wrongly projecting his grief onto others.
