Spoiler alert: America is never going to lose it's debt.

There's more debt in the world than there is money. One of the nice things capitalism has given us.

Physical money, sure. Money doesn't have to be in physical form for it to exist.
Well duh. I meant all the money.

I don't see how the country will ever be debt free when they have a huge trade deficit to china and don't make anything that isn't made better elsewhere except weapons.
You do know that out of the $15 trillion in debt, only about $1 Trillion is owed to China. Only about $3 trillion in general is owed to other nations at all. The rest is Politicians over 70 years (yes, about $1 trillion is World War 2 debts) spending money the nation didn't have at the time. In other words, money we need to pay back to ourselves.

Do you know what a trade deficit is? It means more money is going out then going in, therefore your country is becoming poorer.

Watch out. If I post in your thread, chances are it'll die. I've been cursed, and if I kill your thread, I'm sorry.

It won't. The thing is, America has alot of "get out of jail free" cards it can play.

My Brahman is ready.

Well, to get the ball rolling, we should stop spending so much on military, and start spending more on education and other things in order to fix up our country's problems (ie. fat people, cat ladies, Recon).

There's actually no way to ever get rid of our debt. The interest itself from the banks where our government gets it's money in the first place is too high to ever pay back.

Whenever I see politicians say that they'll cut the deficit I always laugh because it won't do a damn thing.

Until we get rid of the monetary system we'll never see change.

Then it is agreed. BURN ALL THE MONEY!

HURR DURR murica is dominate. If you're on the offence, against China, you won't even take half of it.

Okay, for starts. "Hurr Durr"? What is it 2005?

Also, you'll notice he said "we say no". Then they attack us. You do realize that we could just level the entirety of that nation in a fort night right?
They still an agrarian culture, and their people are basically slaves at the drop of a hat. There would be zero moral to support them.

Yeah. If push came to shove, they wouldn't stand a chance. Not in this day and age.

10 Year Treasury Bill Interest rate is 1.75% - less than projected inflation. In reality, the government will pay less than the current value of the money it borrows because of inflation over the course of the bill's interest payments.

Really, I don't know where the people on this forum come up with some of this.

The issue is that nobody in america wants to work in a factory anymore. Therefore it makes no sense to make factories here.

Personally, I don't see why we can't raise a tariff on imported goods from China, making it more expensive to make and ship them here then it is to just make the product here. But then again, we have the problem of nobody wanting to physically work here. And the companies who make the product hate the regulations here because unlike china, we want rivers to not be colored purple.

So it's tough. Until America gets up and works again instead of pushing paper, we won't get out of a trade deficit.

Anyway, why would China attack us? That would be them shooting themselves in the foot. We're their biggest source of revenue.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

The people who live there can stop relying on loans and credit, and vote with their wallet for a sustainable lifestyle?

It's not simple, but at least that's a start.

  • 11.27.2012 12:00 PM PDT

Who do you think ends up paying for tariffs? You and me through higher good prices. Such costs are always passed along to consumers.

Tariffs and protectionism went out of style when even completely opposite styles of economic thought, whether you are Keynesian or Austrian, agree that protectionist policies create inefficiences in markets and hurt consumers.

The implication was that once we had said no, China would then declare war on us. Not us attacking because they asked for their money back.

Unfortunatly, most Americans don't see the bigger picture. Most are fine living a cookie cutter life that our society has set as an image. Why think for yourself, when conforming is so much easier? We're lazy. We're selfish. We're too occupied with happiness NOW, instead of insuring happiness LATER.

What house has a rocket pod, has legs, and has a long narrow barrel that probably shoots something powerful?

Sounds like you're describing the lower half of my body, actually.

When we get a president who knows what he/she is doing to help lead America in it's time of need.
