Halo 3

I've always heard that Japan is one of the most homogeneous countries in the world. As a result, it is said that the Japanese are one of the most racist, xenophobic peoples in the world. Despite all of this, they are one of 5 top most internationally recognized trading partners. But what is bizarre is that anime is a world-wide hit, especially in Japan. Many anime (many popular ones at that) have themes related to equality, understanding, and happiness, among other positive outlooks on humanity. So yeah, I feel it is weird that Japan is viewed very negatively yet they seem to propagate moral and ethical goodness and justice.

Thoughts?

The Japanese are not racist or xenophobic.

You really only find people who have negative views on Americans/tourists in or around US military bases, because to be honest, American and Japanese culture and manners are vastly different and the typical United States soldier and their normal behavior is extremely offensive to normal traditional Japanese.

Outside of military regions, they are a very kind and generous people. When I was there, I had a 30,000 yen dinner paid for because a couple wanted to practice English with me.

Im a anime fan. If you every need a anime recommendation just PM me. Currently watched over 280 anime.

Not all Japanese people are nice. Its stereotypical to think that all Americans are fat. We should not judge a couple of peoples actions to the entire country. Also anime is better then American TV shows and movies in my opinion.

Two movies you should watch: Fight Club and Pineapple Express

"Wait. What do you mean, it's dead?"
"If marijuana is not legal within the next five years I have no faith left in humanity, period. Everyone likes smoking weed. They have for thousands of years. They're not going to stop anytime soon. You know? It makes everything better. Makes food taste better, makes music better. It makes sex feel better for God's sake. It makes -blam!- movies better you know?"

Never see a black person in Japan or in their anime but when you do it's like seeing a unicorn.

Anime fandom is actually frowned upon in japan.

And they are xenophobic. Though so is Korea and China.

That's really weird because I think Japan is the largest consumer of anime products. It's kind of contradictory, no?

This is very true. I understand their annoyance with the military personnel in Japan because, frankly, the average enlisted Marine isn't the brightest and most elegant thing out there.

Hes right most Japanese are down right
prejudice to Otaku's. Even thought they produce
the most anime related products. Its like are
society in America. We look down on anyone that
enjoys gaming and call them filthy nerds or geeks.

lol that makes a lot of sense. If anything the Japanese should be proud of their world wide success. I'm personally holding Japanese people on a very high standard. When I become financially independent, i'm definitely making it a goal of mine to visit Japan for an extended period.

Yup.

Is it really "racist" or "xenophobic" to not let strangers into your house? It is just as wrong as not wanting to let hobos into your house. No one has the right to impose themselves on someone else, that is truly racist, and something we are seeing done to white nations around the world today. Japan refuses to bow down to these forces, and refuse to let the hobos, criminals and other strangers of the world into their home.

I have no problem with tourists.
