I enjoyed the campaign a lot, but hated the story and characters. The competitive multiplayer is, in my opinion, broken beyond repair. Every problem I had with Reach has returned, plus a few new ones. Spartan Ops is bad because there isn't any original content; it's just maps or campaign missions. Theater is once again 1-player, custom game options have been reduced, the file browser doesn't work, Forge is basically Reach's with worse maps....need I go on?
Out of interest, why did you hate the story? I personally really liked the Didact and the short and sweet story, stop him and save earth
A few major ones: First off, the fact that people (apparently) were aware of the Didact's existence, but failed to ever bring it up until he suddenly appeared in the game. Then he just seemed like a lame villain with a generic "kill everything" plotline (not that other Halo villains are better, I'm speaking objectively here). Then, the whole Cortana-Master Chief relationship thing. AI DO NOT HAVE EMOTIONS. IT'S BEEN MADE CLEAR IN THE BOOKS. They have personality, but NOT emotions. It just seems laughable how much emphasis was placed on it.
Maybe it's because they never thought he would be released so he wasnt considered a threat, and therefore, nothing to mention. Although I do agree on your second point.
Maybe, but you'd still think that someone that powerful would be considered a threat. That's the sort of knowledge that a lot of people would have. It just irked me, that's all. But mostly it was the emphasis on Cortana's story; it wasn't emotional for the player. In fact, I really didn't care what happened to Cortana. She says how a replacement "wouldn't be her" but it actually would be exactly the same, and would probably be uploaded with the same knowledge. It would be a carbon copy.
