In the Halo: Reach mission "Long Night of Solace", you take out the Covenant Corvette's engines prior to boarding it.

Next, when you are on the flight deck, you activate it's refueling path to the super carrier. How can the corvette make it there if you took out all of it's engines?

I never thought about that...

Newton's first law.

Then how would taking out the engines make it easier to board if it didn't slow down?

Nahman Jayden, Eff bee eye. I herd that you're the origammy killah...

It was still moving, meng. No friction in space? Also, Lnos is 26 Km long. Dat gravitational pull

Reach Campaign made no sense in terms of anything.

Gravity.

I'm glad you cared to look at this box with letters. Lets hang out sometime! :D

Basic physics.

But the point of killing the engines was to make it easier to board. And the Corvette accelerates once you hit the button on the bridge.

Auxiliary engines.

I think they damaged the engines or only damaged a couple so it slowed down but didn't stop.

1. This belongs in the reach forums

2. Learn basic physics

  • 11.27.2012 6:05 PM PDT

If humans could have made the Corvette get to the super carrier fast, why didn't the Covenant crew just high-tail it outta there even after the engines were destroyed?

You're thinking about this way too much.

Artistic license. Now shut up and play the game.

So it can't speed up.

So it can't speed up.

But the Corvette accelerates to the super carrier after initiating the refueling route (shown by vibration of the ship).

I am the God Emprah of Mankind.

Deal with it.

Well, here's two ways.

1. Engineers fixed the engines while you were shooting guys.

2. The ship used back-up/maneuvering engines.

Ok, that sounds reasonable enough for me.

Yeah, the only problem is that no repairs are shown, nor mentioned during the mission.

The Reach campaign just makes no sense whatsoever.

ITT fools.

The main drive was disabled, not secondary/emergency and maneuvering jets useless in a combat situation.

Edit: assassin knows whats up
