I want to get a manual car.

Automatic because I'm too lazy to learn how to drive a stick shift.

Bro, do you even shift?

  • 11.27.2012 6:56 PM PDT

My daily is an auto but my fun car is a stick and my next daily will be stick.

Lt. Dan I brought you some ice cream. Lt. Dan.. ice creaaam!

I use an automatic because I'm not a knob-head who thinks it's cool to handicap himself. Just because you drive a stick doesn't make you more awesome.

Jeep (automatic for offroading).

Car: Manual for sure.

Having more control over the car and being more connected to how it operates isn't a "handicap." People that drive automatics are just lazy and want to pay as little attention as possible to what they're doing.

I've got a fan!

When I drive, automatic, because there's no reason to use manual transmission in an urban environment.

I drive in an urban area. Do you know how tiresome it would get to be constantly shifting?

Manual. The feel of downshifting on the interstate is great.
Also, off-roading with a manual is fun.

And dangerous.

"People that drive automatics...want to pay as little attention as possible to what they're doing."

Quite the opposite. Not having to focus on gear shifting lets the driver be more aware of what is going on around him, lets the driver focus on more important things, and frees a hand in case of a need to swerve out of the path of obstacles.

I've always found it odd how insulting fans of manual transmissions can be. The idea that people that drive automatic are "lazy" or don't enjoy driving is ludicrous and baseless.

It's not, it's fun actually.

Have you ever driven a standard before? Do you know how much fun it is to drop the clutch at 5k spin the tires and slam into 2nd and take off from a light, and then scream up to 7k and slam through the gears at MOTHER-blam!- REDLINE!!!????!!

It barely takes any focus to drive a standard once you've learned. I literally do it without thinking, its just muscle memory. I feel more in-tune and focused driving my standard then I do driving any automatic.

Honestly, I don't really notice when I shift, it just happens. I actually am focusing on the lack of shifting when I'm driving an automatic.

I do quite often, too. If you find it tiresome, you should probably consult a doctore, because you probably have some sort of muscular condition.

I only drive automatic in Forza, it'd be great if those racing pedals and wheel were available for 360.

There are so many reasons why manuals are better, it makes you more involved in actually driving the car.

I wish manual drivers could see how dumb statements like that sound.
