I use an automatic because I'm not a knob-head who thinks it's cool to handicap himself. Just because you drive a stick doesn't make you more awesome.
Having more control over the car and being more connected to how it operates isn't a "handicap." People that drive automatics are just lazy and want to pay as little attention as possible to what they're doing.

Unless you live in a hilly area. Or the city. Or in snow.

Hills are fun. Cities are the biggest downside, but it's not that bad. Snow isn't bad either, it can be better because you could simply start in 2nd.

Just cause you don't know what fun is because you drive a Camry, doesn't mean that others can't have fun in their Mustangs, BMW's, or RX-7's.

On a side note: My dream car is the 1991 BMW E30 M3. Germans are awesome.

One of my parent's friends has one. He takes it out to the track down south of here almost every weekend. I love the E30 M3!

Man am I jealous. Right now I just wish that I had a track worthy car. Sadly there also aren't really any tracks near me either, the closest tracks that aren't ovals are Barber Motorsports Park and Road Atlanta. I haven't visited BMP yet but I was at Road Atlanta this year for the Petit LeMans and holy crap was it awesome!

Yeah, that car is amazing!

I wish the track was closer. It's around 100 or so miles, not terrible, but too far to go every weekend for me when I get my license.

Petit LeMans must have been awesome! The closest I've gotten to being close to a race was Red Bull Kart Fight down at a karting track near here. Karting is loads of fun too!

I believe the place near me has cars to rent. I think they're stripped to the bone NA Miata's with a turbo kit and a few other goodies under the hood. From what I've heard they're incredibly fun to drive!

It seems pretty hecktic driving a manual in hills though. Snow may be okay, I'll give you that.

Driving a stick in really hilly, twisty back roads is the most fun you can have short of having sex.

Admittedly hills do suck at times, but once you know the spot where the clutch catches, like I said, it's all muscle memory and it's easier than hell. Manuals are infinetly times better off road and in the snow simply because you can control the amount of power that goes to the ground. And your amount of traction, and the amount of power being put to the ground go hand and hang. I would NEVER have made it up the hill on my street if I was driving an automatic in the past winter.

Love driving stick shift. I had more fun driving my 90 horsepower manual Honda Civic than my 250 horsepower automatic Volvo.

Karting sounds awesome too, don't they hit 80mph in those things? And those Miata's sound awesome, I wouldn't mind owning a Miata one day.

I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

Automatic.
If my dad never sold an old truck he once had, probably both.

Depending on the kart, it's possible. When I did karting I think the top speed may have been around 40-50MPH but you're so low it feels like 100. Pure competition spec can get up to 70-80.

Then there are Superkarts that have full aero kits, 5 and 6 speed sequential gearboxes, and bang out faster lap times than actual race cars.

Incredibly fast and tiny machines.

Asus Rampage III Formula
2 x Radeon HD 6950 2gb
Antec 1200 Case
Patriot Viper Xtreme 2000 mhz 24 gb (6 x 4)

Both of my cars are manual, and not only that, but my 300ZX TT is RHD, so I shift all my gears with my left hand, then I go over to my RSX-S and have a 6 speed on the normal side.

Completely used to it now, though.

I have a modified M3 as an Automatic for everyday use, and I currently have a Subaru WRX Impreza STI I got in exchange for a Fiesta I suped up and got 20k along with the car (Winnings from the race)that I use on the track.

I know how to drive stick, but it's been several years. Both my truck and Mach 1 are automatics. Traffic get crazy around here, so driving stick shift can be a pain.

I prefer manual. Both my car and motorbike are manuals. Though, I have never seen an automatic motorbike, I don't doubt that they do exist.
