  • 11.28.2012 12:35 AM PDT

Wake me, when you need me.

I currently drive a manual, but I plan on switching to an automatic.

I don't think my blue box has those controls...-blam!-

Manual

But considering the traffic here, it isn't exactly the best choice

Currently studying Computer Science & Software engineering. Hope to work on mobile devices of the future! When a certain game's credits roll, look out for my name! ;)

You will -blam!- bricks when you see what game it is! =)

My grandfather (who is a fire-truck driver) always told me that manual > automatic. Since he is a professional driver, I guess he speaks the truth. He did drive automatics, but he said they suck due to precision problems or something like that...

"Dude, what are you doing right now?"
"Uhh... Heh, my mom."
"Dude... What?"

Automatic.

EDIT: So no, I don't even manual.

If you get a chance to talk to K-Mart, tell him Mabian misses him...

He won't remember me, but it's always nice to let a complete stranger on the internet know that you care.

Sir I can't help but get the sense that you don't want to really talk about this, you want to "nail" me.

Currently driving an auto but I'll hopefully have enough money to swap in a 5-speed by the end of December. \o/

A competitive players main goal is to win.
A casuals main goal is to have fun regardless of whether that results in a win or loss.
It has nothing to do with individual skill or knowledge, it has to do with the reason you play.

There are so many people in this thread who have obviously never driven the "Other choice" and defend what they use, Manual or automatic.

I have driven both rather extensively, though I have been driving for more than a decade. I very much prefer to drive manual as I find it to be more enjoyable.

My old Halo 2 account is Devil brothers

Manual.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

I don't drive often, but when I do, I prefer manual.

My first car will be a manual after I finish my degree (digging the public transport and not digging the high insurance prices for drivers under 25.)

this isn't fast and furious

Are you 10? Or just stupid? You realize that outside of 'murica the manual transmission is pretty much the standard? Many cars, mine included, are not even manufactured with an automatic transmission option.

I'm not even 'murican and here automatic is the norm because we are the richest country ever oh yeah. Automatic is much better imo

MCz

I walk, so manual I guess

  • 11.28.2012 4:46 AM PDT

So either you never have, or weren't coordinated enough to, drive a manual. Don't worry though, not everyone has the coordination, just everyone that can drive well.

I'll take a DSG transmission, best of both worlds.

I've driven a lot of autos, including cars that have a lot more performance than manual-equipped daily driver. I still hated it; the lack of control is horrible and I can't figure out what to do with my left foot.

Why manual is superior, in general when comparing manual versus automatics on the same car:

1. Better gas mileage
2. Manual transmissions are lighter than automatics
3. Cheaper - automatics are an upgrade option
4. Cheaper to maintain - require less scheduled maintenence
5. Cooling - automatic transmissions overheat easier
6. Gear ratios are generally longer in automatics - slower

So to drive an automatic, you pay more for gas, your car gets worse gas mileage, weighs more, is slower, costs more to maintain, costs more to buy, and is more likely to overheat.

Have fun kiddos.

Who's got AIDS?

Manual. I started with an automatic. It wasn't my personal choice to learn how to drive one. My dad bought a manual for me because my automatic got wrecked. I'm glad my daily car is a manual because of the gas mileage and how it actually engages me when driving. Also it's fun to spin the tires every once in a while.
