Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.
If you're active, get tested. A serious matter, especially if you are engaged in any of the various high-risk activities.
Though I will admit, the article states some facts that I am curious about, it is serious enough to warrant some consideration.
For example, it states that in the US, in the age group 13-24, for 2010, 12,000 new cases of infection and 60% didn't know their status. Did that mean that of the 12,000, the CDC didn't/couldn't notify or that the tests confirming infection were from anonymous testers? If (as the report says) around 50% of young people diagnosed are unaware of their status, how is that possible? What sort of testing, what sort of clinic, doctor or testing lab does not inform the patient of their diagnosis?
Odd information, but IMO, serious enough that if I were in that demographic and had more than one partner (I sure did when I was at that age), I would be tested so at least I knew.
So, what about you who may be in that age group? You really believe in YOLO? Or would you be afraid to know? Not want the test? Or is there another reason? (please don't say something like "I would only hook up with people who aren't sick, duh"... because if you believe that, you are just "whistling past a graveyard")
