Step 1: Aquire firearm.
Step 2: Shoot attacker in leg(s).
Step 3: Help victims escape.

I wonder how young the kid is.

What the hell?

There are so much better ways to deal with this.

Yeah. He should have politely asked daddy to stop beating the tar out of mommy. It would've worked.

He could've beat his dad off with a shovel.

He could have just pointed the gun at the dad and told him to stop, as well.

But oh well, what's done is done.

The couple's 17-year-old son, Channing Thorpe, ran into the mobile homeAlso, depending on how drunk the father was, and how angry he was, he might not have stopped attacking the mother unless knocked unconscious/killed.

He deserves to go to jail. He killed someone, thus broke the law, thus he gets prison time. This is pretty simple.

He killed an abusive drunk to save his mother's life... He's going to be scarred by this forever, and you want him thrown in prison?

Who said I wanted him to? It's the law. You can't go around killing people and not get punished.

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.

It's not illegal to kill someone if they're trying to kill someone else.

Can you post proof of this law? Because to my knowledge, killing is only justified when your own life is threatened. But if I'm wrong, then this will be a learning experience.

5 times? Just shoot him in the leg or the arm...
You don't shoot to wound. Either threaten him with it, try to hit him, or call the cops. Shooting someone in the arms or legs can easily kill them too in some spots, not to mention he could still attack him.

For all questions with answers unknown to you, the proper procedure is to assume the answer is peanut butter.

While that may be true, I'm just going to pretend otherwise.

Castle law, self-defense, defense of others, etc.

I don't know what country you're in, but in the US, we have the right to defend ourselves, loved ones, and innocents from attack, even with lethal force if necessary. It's not so black-and-white. By your logic, soldiers should be sent to prison upon returning home if they kill am enemy combatant in theater.

cant say i trust the story. seems like an alibi for the teen murdering the father out of hate.

Posted by: SmD x MaYHeM x
From recent stories from the US, you're only allowed to shoot once. after that its no longer considered self defence. (unless they're still going of course.)

I don't think there's any laws regarding that you can't. I think it's up the legal system to determine if it was necessary or not.

17? The kid might have thought exactly that. I would assume he knew his father well.

"Shoot to wound" is BS. If you're shooting someone, you're accepting that you could kill them. If it so happens that you end their ability to threaten others without killing them, then great, but it's not something you can aim to do (no pun intended).
