Does anyone have lotion?

Is mayonnaise a lotion?

There should be designated smoking areas. Smokers should be able to deteriorate their own health if they wish to, but depleting others' health is unethical and disgusting.

I'm not a smoker nor have I ever been, but I don't think they should be banned.

Isn't this already done in the US?

In the UK you can't smoke in any public building but are free to smoke outdoors (where passive smoking isn't a risk). A lot of buildings have designated smoking areas outside too.

If you were my son, I'd be proud.
This. I'd take you out for a dinner at your favorite restaurant.

Quoted by a Mod. Call me a suck up, but I feel pretty damn awesome right now.

Smoking is a touchy subject.

My grandmother, who smoked for less than a year, but was exposed to years of second hand smoking, is going to die of Emphysema eventually. She's 71, and has had it for a year or two, and she won't be able to go on much longer.

I, on the other hand, am 18, and smoke to help me cope with my depression. I have three other friends who smoke as well, and smoke for the same reason. We do it because it forces us to stop, and think, and helps ease stress, anxiety, and any tension we feel. Yet, for the most part, we hate it. We hate having to use a harmful substance to help us feel better, but when pills and therapy won't do the trick, what else will? After I finish my current pack, I'm going to try to not buy another pack, or smoke, and see how long I can go without smoking.

I don't think cigarettes should be banned. A majority of people have a reason for smoking. Some do it to be "cool," and don't know how stupid they are for starting when they didn't need to. I regret smoking, and hate myself for it, but you know what they say: "It hurts so good."

I'm not sure of the exact rules, but I'm pretty sure you can't smoke in many public buildings either and smoking outside is still allowed everywhere. There are not any smoking areas that I have seen... Still, I would prefer smoking areas, but perhaps I'm biased because I lived in a house with a heavy smoker for several years.

No, but Public Smoking Zones should be removed.

I like to play Reach for fun. I hate MLG, campers, armor lock, and team killers because they ruin that fun. Deal with it.

They serve no purpose except for giving the user lung cancer and anyone around him second hand. Of course it will never be banned since smokers love the feeling they get when they do it.

In the US, I think it's more likely that they'd never be banned due to the huge political campaign contributions a candidate would lose than anything else.

Oh ok...

Of course it will never be banned since smokers love the feeling they get when they do it.

Wait a minute!! I thought you said the only purpose of cigs was to give a smoker lung cancer. Now apparently they also provide enjoyment...

I like how you insulted me and that the only reason you gave why smoking shouldn't be banned is because everyone else is doing it.

I didn't insult you. I suggested that the opinion you voiced about cigarettes was a touch naive and contradictory.

Also, the Bill Hicks quote is more about making people realise there's far, far bigger problems in this world than people smoking. I never said anything about it shouldn't be banned because other people do it so I'm not sure where you conjured that from...

Well I am sorry. A member of my family passed due to lung cancer from a history of smoking, so you'll have to excuse me if my comments come from a place of anger.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Utah's clean air act should be implemented everywhere.

No because then we lose the revenue created by cigarette manufacturing, sales, and the taxes related to them while having to spend more money to enforce the ban on them so no.

I feel like I've seen this thread before.

At least ban them from public places to prevent children and people with breathing problems from inhaling smoke. It really irritates me when smokers show no consideration for those around them and blow their stuff in your face.

  • 11.28.2012 8:44 AM PDT

Major props to my hommie Sheeef. He made Recon possible for me. Long time recovering emails and passwords. And it was his. lol.

Shouldn't be banned. I'm trying to quit.

  • 11.28.2012 8:44 AM PDT

They should put the price up ridiculously, to make the somokers stop out of choice, that way you don't have the same effect on the public as when alcohoil was banned.

  • 11.28.2012 8:52 AM PDT

Lol, Has anyone else realized that the forum ninjas almost never provide reasoning to their argument, but just state their viewpoint?
Anyways, this is a difficult subject to consider. On one hand, adults should have the freedom to choose what they want to do within reasonable limits (not unethical or immoral actions). Also, banning a private good is a dangerous precendent.

Conversely, there are numerous detrimental economic effects from smoking. For example, the health related costs of first and second hand smoke. The money needed to pay for these medical costs don't always come from the smoker himself. I personally find it repulsive that one should pay for another's bad habits. So I find it sad that the health and economic effects from smoking can be altogether eliminated with a simple ban on smoking, which means I lean more on the side of banning smoking, but not by a great margin.

In the UK the tax received by the Gov from cigs is around twice what smoking costs the country on the NHS. So us smokers are actually making this country money...

Smoking costs around £5 billion

Tax revenue is around £10 billion
