If you get bullied on a social networking site couldnt you delete your account. And the problem is solved.

You'd be surprised how people don't think of this. One guy was -blam!- talking me, I blocked him, then that was that.

Exactly!
talking -blam!- =/= bullying.

What constitutes as bullying, because I gurantee millions of kids have gone through it yet weren't pathetic enough to off themselves.

This is stupid. I understand bullying sucks, I'm sure all of his had our fair share of bullying. I mean she is 12? Publicizing suicides just further influences people to look at it as an option. It is also outrageous how suicides happen every day and only some are under the eye of the media. You are going to kill yourself because someone attacked you verbally online. Maybe I don't "understand what she is going through" but to me the situation was a little sick, and saddening.

Alright: Personal story time.

I was a victim of cyber bullying.

Back when I used to play WoW a group of players decided to take it upon themselves to just make my life hell. They spammed me whispers. They followed my character to major cities to spam me in general chat channels. They followed my character into raid zones to continue to bad mouth me during raids.

Rightfully so I immediately ignored the players responsible. But that didn't stop them.

For months on end they continued. Their messages in cities would bump mine out of the chat box. Their constant bad mouthing eventually lead to me getting kicked from a PUG dungeon when I had and was successfully tanking bosses in raids. Every time they started up, I reported the players responsible to the Mods. Mods would give me the usual song and dance but nothing was ever done to stop them and their behavior.

At one point I considered actually killing myself to get the mods to actually do something to stop these players. A mod has to talk me down. I was in tears.

Say whatever bull-blam!- you want about "just doing X" or "be stronger." It's just that: Bull-blam!-. Even if you could withstand the abuse, which I doubt, not everyone is you. Nobody should have to deal with the bull-blam!- I went through.

I'm not sure where to draw the line between being a dick and continued harassment by an individual.

Uhh... You know you could have just stopped playing for a week or two and they would have moved on, right? If you deny a bully their target, they go away. That's just about how it goes most of the time.

I was considering killing myself because I was being systemically stalked and harassed by a dozen different people over the course of nearly a year while the authorities in the situation were not doing -blam!- to stop it.

Dude don't try and justify the ridiculousness of being that emotionally invested in a video game.

When it gets to that level, throw it away (literally) and reevaluate your life.

Social gaming is great, but not at the expense of your sanity.

Everybody handles 'issues' (used as a broad term) in their own way with the tools they have, but sometimes there are people who just refuse to use that and do unnecessarily foolish things instead.

"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."

This is a terrible tragedy. I can't imagine what the parents have to go through, or what the girl was going through in order to even think about killing herself.

I was bullied in middle school. I was depressed but I never once thought about killing myself. Even when I had the option of staying at the school or leaving I chose to stay just to stick it to them. Was that a good idea? Who knows.

I believe that these suicides are going to start something. Sure, there's already organizations to stop bullying, but I think something huge is going to happen in regards to bullying.

Also, I'm deeply sad that we as a society have become so immune to death that when someone dies all that we respond with is, "I don't care."

Uhh I could understand if they were following you around in real life and doing it. But it was on a damn video game. You can just turn the game off and BOOM they're gone. How old are you?

All of that...over a bunch of idiots on World of Warcraft...

I'm sorry, I outright have no sympathy for you if you seriously would've killed yourself over that.

So the way it's delivered is the only thing that matters and that if it's not in person it doesn't matter?

Wait, you actually are looking at this? Damn, I never look at these, at least on this site.

Really? Because I was stabbed by a stalker. You know. In real life. Where things matter.

The people who say that either don't understand or have been through worse and don't see why somebody could quit at an issue that seems trivial to them.

On another note, yesterday while walking into school, some fat girl tripped and fell and dozens of students passed by and laughed.

I was the only one willing to offer her a hand to help her up.

Sad.

Was not an option. I was part of a guild clearing current raid content. You can't just disappear when you want to and come back all hunky dory.

Even if I did, there slander was negatively affecting my reputation. I would surmise that even if I left and came back, I would probably be a pariah.
