Subject: Would you still buy Destiny if it went heavily CoD-like?

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

Why is this even a thread? Most of what we know about the game makes it seem even further from CoD than Halo was... I just don't see it happening.

I'll humor you though and say that I would indeed support them if they decided to incorporate gameplay elements popularized by the Call of Duty franchise, because if they decided to include it, it's probably making the game better.

Games need to stop trying to be like CoD. Plain and simple. It is KILLING FPS's. Bad enough Halo 4 has so much CoD -blam!- in it.

If games didn't try to compete, they would be suffocated very quickly. Trying to compete with CoD is the only thing keeping CoD from monopolizing the genre. This was necessary for Halo 4, Halo being the dying franchise it was, and it is especially necessary for a brand new title.

So you'll have to get used to that fact. They can't make games exclusively for the nostalgic fans--to think they would is hopelessly entitled. They need to compete to stay afloat.

No one complained when everyone ripped off Halo, so what's different?

That makes no sense what evidence is there to lead to the assumption that it might be COD related.

I can barely even tolerate Halo 4 now.

If Bungie fails me, I might give up on video games all together.

Bungie does not simply make a game heavily CoD-like

You got stuck by FalconStickr

If you think Bungie is going to make a COD copy you underestimate them. I think that it is kinda a joke that you would even think they would do what everyone else is doing. This is Bungie man!

somewhere in the heavens...they are waiting. I love the Marathon Trilogy.
Halo CE will always be the best game in the Halo franchise. What a perfect game.
(Proud LONGTIME owner of the PC and Xbox versions of Halo CE)

I have alot of faith in Bungie's new title and will try it out regardless of "COD" elements, Reach aside I still believe Bungie is a great company who hands out qaulity. ODST was a fantastic story experient and Reach was a rough multiplayer experiment in my eyes. I think Bunige still has the ability to make amazing games.

Sorry, I'm not a sheep, I don't have to get used to -blam!-.

If this new game does what Halo 4 did and more to be like CoD, then I won't even give it a simple glance. I'll continue to play what shooters I do enjoy, continue to wait for Doom 4, and then await to see what Gearbox has in store for the next Duke Nukem (Which they have confirmed they are working on)

It's called doing your own thing. More Devs need to do this, not force everything to be based off of CoD.. All they are doing is forcing CoD to be the basis all FPS games need to be based off of. Which as I said is killing the genre. CoD is -blam!- horrible. If you cannot see the damage CoD and its -blam!- is doing.. then you're nothing more than a blind sheep going to pasture grazing upon whatever is fed to you.

"Wake me...when you need me."

I'm going to buy it regardless of what children, polls or biased media types say. Why?

Bungie has never let me down. They have earned my loyalty by making awesome games.

Yes, I'd still buy it. I don't see Bungie going down the Call of Duty route again. Hopefully, "Destiny" becomes a "new kind" of FPS. Sadly, the FPS genre is dying though because of so many games trying to be like Call of Duty. I'll always buy Bungie games though.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

This is bungie, I'll at least give it a chance.

Besides, they have their own styles of stuff, and I don't think they would do stuff like that.

Just because it seems like the game will be some sort of open world doesn't mean that the base mechanics won't be low health, iron sights, and customizable loadouts with perks. Although I have a lot of faith in Bungie there's nothing to say that they didn't ditch Halo in order to try to compete with CoD on the most basic level (taking a lot of game mechanics from them). I want to know how the Bungie fans would react to such an announcement (I know how I would: serious doubts).
