Subject: Do you think mankind will reach Mars by the end of this century?

I'm not sure, I think its possible, but at the moment, there are too many restrictions with money, politics and war, I think mars is the least of any world leaders concerns.

what do you think?

"Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men."

Get at me

The century? Of course. Look at the progress we've made in the last 88 years. Now try and imagine where we'll be 88 years from now. Yeah...

Talking about Sweden is an ultrabannable offense.

Too bad being completely and utterly wrong isn't a bannable offense.

NASA plans to do it by 2030.

Of course if we don't get wiped out/wipe our selves out.

I don't think my generation will see it but i'd like to be able to go into space before i'm too old.

I don't believe they'll land a team of humans on the planet, even if they do send something else.

There comes a time in every mans life... and that time is not now.

I hope not. Thats when the space monsters will attack.

I've heard of some program who aims to have a permanent *Colony there by the year 2023.

Not sure if it's real or not, but I am sick of humanity stagnating here.

*half a dozen or so permanent residents in an apartment complex sized errr, complex.

I was a finalist :P

I hope NASA goes through with its plans, and I love deGrasse's fitting quote on the issue: "Enough on Mars. Must get back to making Earth hotter, cutting science budgets & killing each other over religious differences."

I have pretty high confidence in NASA. As long as you don't decide to cut their funding, It'll happen.

The technology is already there, the only thing we need is money and willpower.

The Universe demands to be noticed, to be seen, and dutifully noted.

What use all those incredible firework dimensions if no eye fixes and reflects, no brain takes notes, no heart moves with passion at the display?

NASA answers the silent cry of the Cosmos for recognition.

NASA is the witness and we fellow witnesses to the endless deeps.

The Obama Administration plans to do it by 2030.

Fix'd.

Funds are allocated to NASA according to the wishes of the current administration occupying the White House - the Obama administration effectively put an end to the Constellation Program that was intended for humans to revisit the moon and use it as a platform from which to reach Mars.

NASA has effectively been left rudderless by the cancellation of the Constellation Program - ISS supplies are being phased to the private sector, and the only space=worthy projects that come to the top of my head is the Orion spacecraft - we won't be reaching Mars at this rate.

This. We have more important things to do though, but I can see this happening.

My old account is NarutoFan777. I hate Naruto now. My birthday is on Bungie Day, I'm 18. I won Recon Armor on Bungie Day 2009. Lulz.

This will happen a lot sooner if NASA gets funding back.

Hopefully we'll put man on Mars before 2050.

Have NASA announced what they found on Mars yet?
They said it was something for the history books.

  • 11.28.2012 5:02 AM PDT

Yeah, easily. It should be made a priority.

Eh, maybe if we manage to squeeze in a little peace time during a somewhat stable economy.

In the next hundred? Maybe. I'm not getting my hopes up we'll see it in my lifetime though.

I'm in love with Jesus and proud of it!

I think we need to focus on Earthly affairs. Going to Mars will not fix the economy and will be ridiculously expensive.

America will never pay its debt to china, unless of course america becomes china's sweat shop slave, so there is no point in saying "we need to fix the economy first"

as for the UK, the UK can pay off its debt, but it will take considerable time.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

The Mars Science Laboratory costed $2.5 billion.
The Apollo program averaged $18 billion each.

We probably won't get it done, people.
