When I watch TV (Rare occasion) I never see a CoD advert for PS3, PC or the Wii they only ever seem to be for the 360 with no mentioning of multiplatform.
Pro-tip: Microsoft pays for those advertisements.

RIP Ginger

Spring 1997 - 6 January 2012

Microsoft have deals with Activision to get DLC etc first and will have paid more than others to get their console promoted.

MS makes money on every game for 360 whether its made by EA, Activision, or in-house like Halo.

If Microsoft wants people to play Halo why advertise its main competitor?
Why are you thinking in terms of people only buying a single game? Microsoft advertises both. They advertise Halo and it's an Xbox exclusive. Call of Duty ads are for the Xbox because Microsoft wants people to play it on their console so they get some bling and to provide more incentive to have an XBL subscription.

They aren't trying to "steal" customers. That makes it sound like pulling them to one game prevents them from buying the other as well. Microsoft wants you to buy both.

Studies show that men think about sex every 7 seconds. I do my best to eat hotdogs in under 6, just so things don't get weird.

Please allow me to introduce Myself
I'm a man of wealth and taste
I've been around for a long, long year
Stole many a man's soul and faith

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

Good luck with that. Im no being convinced.

Is it bad taste to quite literally aim for the audience of your competitor?

No. Why would it be?

Yep. Microsoft owns like everything now.

Anyway, kinda agree OP. Not just cuz i'm a Halo fan. But it would make sense for a target/be fair to advertise for all platforms.

OP wants a hot topic.
