NON FACET NOBIS CALCITRARE VESTRUM PERNǢUM

A cool "I survived being Bungie.netted" logo for their front page?

^This, definitely this!

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I am hoping to get a response from staff regarding the idea of a PSA/warning for anyone who attempted to login to the site in question using their WLID credentials.

We not only owe that site admin some sort of "sorry for the hits" but we also should make sure that even the overzealous members of our community are not at risk for account security issues (even if they only have themselves to blame).

it's not owned by Bungie? Oh. something should be done as an Apology then.

Heh, Imagine his reaction.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

We could leave a note of apology on the site!

But first we have to get past that log-in screen...

Have we considered asking for the password? I could use my suave charm, if necessary.

That's how burritos work, they lure you in with their charm of deliciousness and then a few hours later make your -blam!- pay for your carelessness.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Looking back through the archive history of destiny.com, it looks like the site is owned by a cybersquatter who has "rented" it to a number of different businesses over the years. Honestly, I don't feel all that bad for him now.

New information and it does alter my impression that a "sorry to ruin yer party" message may be in order.

However, I would still consider a warning/PSA to our fellow fans (who may have used their WLID credentials to attempt to login to that site) would be prudent.

Are you in touch with Achronos? Maybe he could make a PSA about the website.

Кланяються мені!

I guess one could assume the owner is clueless about what happened. Perhaps the first approach would to explain what is happening. The given response would dictate if any further action is needed.

I would pay to see you walk into Bungie's lobby, hand Jerome a big Bouquet of Roses and say "I'm ready to start my first day on the job as Bungie's Chief Florist!"

I think the look on Jerome's face would be payment enough! xD
Though a map might be good, so I can work out where the heck Bungie actually is...

This reminds me of Bungie Day 2012 when we "decoded" some numbers and everyone was calling the phone number

Lol. Good times.

I was thinking the same thing. Pretty hilarious.

Recon, what is this? So lost here.

Summary:

1: Destiny information leak occurs.
2: In online information related to the leak, a particular URL is mentioned as being Bungie/Destiny-related.
3: Lots of people (members of this site and non-members) attempt to browse that URL and log into that site.
4: I propose that the site is due an apology/explanation from us, the community.
5: It is later shown that the owner of that domain/site is not likely impacted or bothered by the extra hits or unexplained login attempts.
6: However, it is pointed out that many people probably used their WLID credentials to attempt to log into that site.
7: Those people should be made aware that if they did, they should take the precaution of changing their associated password ASAP.

and here we are now.

This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Quick! Everyone try to log in again. The gates still stand!

Why not give the owner of the site recon armor?

Don't judge a book by its cover, unless it has bacon on the cover, then it is a good book.
