Subject: Do you still truly feel excited when you play a game?

When you had your first game console or game etc., did you have that feeling of instantaneous fun that felt like it would never end?

Or did it unfortunately end after a while? Well it does for me anyway, back in the day I really treasured my first games and game console. But now, I think I took it for granted. Nothing feels as fun as what it used to be, a brief period of fun within the game then after a few days it dissapears and it feels like just another game. After all, most of the games on consoles tend to be the same now, just told differently with different environments etc.

I'm telling you the days when the PS2 was out were amazing, no doubt. Could never get bored of the games like Battlefront 1 & 2, Spartan: Total Warrior and Medal of Honor: Vanguard. What I'd give to be able to get those feelings of pure excitement again.

Well, how about you Flood?

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

Today's games are boring.

Borderlands is fun though.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

I feel just as excited today when I get a game as I did back when I was a kid. However, my tastes have changed, and I cherish better games more so than when I was a kid.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

I haven't had that feeling in a while =(

It makes me feel old.

Damn right! I'll never be able to go back to those times. Unless I stop gaming for 10-20 years which will be quite impossible.

Most games these days just aren't that great gameplay-wise.

the flippiest poon i ever knew!

I've been missing those feels too, OP. It seems like the only time they come back is when i am playing splitscreen with friends.

Honestly, halo is the only series that can excite me anymore.

Totally ended. It had been years since I got much excitement from the game itself. It turned into more just fun with friends within the game.

But then I got AC3, and I totally got that feeling again. Seriously an epic game.

Giggity Giggity Goo - Quagmire

I get that feeling on some games more than others. While I get that feeling in the great moments of RPGs I play, I rarely get it for shooters I play. However I did get that feeling playing Gears of War 3 campaign because I just love the Gears universe.

My name: rufemee comes from the Elite Heritic leader: Sesa Refumee
But I spelt the name wrong

Skyrim seems to provide me with quite a bit of excitement. Other recent games, such as Borderlands 2 and Halo 4, have failed to do so however. Kind of a shame really, I had high hopes for those two.

Don't LOL if you aren't L'inOL.

Halo: Reach
Halo 3
Halo ODST

When I play something different to what I usually play for the first time and it's an awesome game, yeah.

Most RPG games still do.

This.
And, like others, RPGs are the easiest way for me to get a feeling close to what OP described, as well as modern retro-type games.

If a man is not willing to die for something then he is unfit to live.

I lost that feeling. I refuse to accept the fact. Denial is an ugly thing.

I still get excited, it just takes better quality games though, and it fades faster.

Nothing beats the first time I played Star Wars Battlefront though, that was magical.

Not really, I have not felt exited about playing a game in a long time, most games nwoadays are either ripoffs of older games or are just not as fun anymore.

The Secret Society 95% of activity is me, I could use some help.

Sadly they are leaving me... Some games still have the spark though.

  • 11.28.2012 2:05 PM PDT

Very few games manage to have that effect on me now.
