Subject: What's the point of statistics? Chance of anything happening i...

Posted by: Panties
I'm learning it in school right now, and it's so useless, it's a math invented solely for math, it has no real life application, except for maybe saying like a percent of something.
Clearly you aren't learning it very well >_>

There once was an ugly barnacle. He was so ugly that everyone died.

The end.

SCFH

There is a 0/100 chance i will actually post in this thread.

Clearly you still have much to learn, the amount of possibilities does not correspond to the likelihood that either will occur.

There's no way to get back experiences you missed.
So start right now today and risk furiousness for bliss.

What if I entered a raffle that sold 1000 tickets and I bought 5 of them?

Do I have a 50% chance of winning?

This is an obvious troll thread that's been made countless times. I'm typically not one to pull the "troll card", but the subtlety and irrefutable point that the OP makes defines this as a troll thread.

While it's true that something either will or won't happen, that has nothing to do with the actual statistic. Ergo, even though something will or won't happen, that doesn't affect the likelihood of it happening.

I find you rather shallow and pedantic.

What about a dice? BOOM.

  • 11.28.2012 1:55 PM PDT

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

You might be actually be right.

Then again, you might be wrong. I guess it's a fifty-fifty chance.

*Flips coin*

Yep... you're wrong.

Not this again...

Have you told your teacher about your interesting take on Statistics yet?

What about a dice? BOOM.

there is a 50/50 chance that it will land on a specific side.

IE

50/50 chance of rolling a 1
( you will roll a 1 or you will not )

50/50 chance of rolling a 2
( you will roll a 2 or you will not )

50/50 chance of rolling a 3
( you will roll a 3 or you will not )

50/50 chance of rolling a 4
( you will roll a 4 or you will not )

50/50 chance of rolling a 5
( you will roll a 5 or you will not )

50/50 chance of rolling a 6
( you will roll a 6 or you will not )

There is a 100% chance that you just made yourself look like a dumbass.

Either you look like a dumbass, or you do.

You should tell this to your teacher while he's teaching your class. I'm sure he can debate you better than I ever could.

I have a 50% chance to kill the world's population with a spoon.

I have a 50% chance to survive a .50 BMG to the head.

I have a 50% chance to survive at the bottom of the ocean without any protection.

Every post whining about the weekly update delays it by 5 minutes.

the perception of the world in a binary fashion is a view that only children hold.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Everything is possible at any instance until it is observed.

Take schrodinger's cat, The cat is both dead and alive when it is in the box, it has to "choose" to be dead or alive once we open the box.
