In the days prior to the release of Halo 4, I sat at my computer listening and watching people who had experience with multiplayer. After years of waiting for the new Halo game, my body was ready.
But something was wrong. The more gameplay I watched, the more distraught I became. I noticed little things that just seemed wrong. Things were happening that shouldn't have been happening. Players were getting kills that they shouldn't have gotten, and players were dying where they shouldn't have died.
Before you read the following I need you to understand: I'm not mad. I'm sad. This isn't a rant.
I'm very good at Halo. I'm not going to try to prove it to you... just please take my word for it. I know what I'm talking about. I've been playing since CE. Ten years of Halo experience has told me that there is something genuinely wrong with Halo 4. I honestly can't even think of all of the things that bug me about this game. The thing is, if it weren't for all the little -blam!- that plagues the game, it would be fantastic. One thing I can think of off the top of my head is Promethean Vision.
I'd like to sit down and have a talk with whoever the -blam!- sat down and said "Yeah, being able to see enemies through walls sounds like a terrific idea!" Seriously. Oh. My. -blam!-. God.
Who thought this was a good idea? Who actually thought critically and came to the conclusion that this was a good idea?
"Use Active camo to counter it."
*NO*
I shouldn't have to use a gimmick to avoid a gimmick. Active camo is more of a hindrance than a help.
I am SO sick of having to run away from people when I see and hear the little red scan on my radar. So many times I'll be crouch walking and sneaking up on a enemy only to have him activate PV and kill me, where before he had no idea that I was even there.
Then we have the lag. Oh God the lag. I don't have bad internet. I've played Halo 3 and Reach on the same connection for years with almost no hiccups, but Holy Hell Halo 4 is awful.
Then... *maps*...
Terrible. Terrible. Terrible.
What has 343 got up their ass about making a symmetrical map? asymmetrical maps are never perfectly balanced. There's a reason Haven is so popular. It's symmetrical... and clear of distractions.
And there's so much clutter. It's so incredibly confusing.
And the Medals.
"Oh you managed to move your thumbstick? Here's a medal for that"
I'm just sooooo very disappointed with the direction Halo is going. It's getting dumbed down but at the same time becoming so complicated that it's almost as random as COD. It's not quite there yet, but it's getting there. I trusted 343, but they have failed me. If only the multiplayer had as much care put into it as the campaign.
I'd just really like to know if I'm the only one that feels this way... Everyone else seems to be enjoying it, but I just can't. I wan't to, so, so much. I just I can't.
