Singapore, what? I thought they were a 3rd world country? What decade have I been living in!

Singapore and New Zealand surprise me, I know nothing about them.
The U.K also surprised me, but then I remembered that best education =/= country with most educated people.
Lol
Not really surprised at how South Korea, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore came in the top five since all of those have high-performing Asian education systems. One thing I've noted is how Finland's education system does not select, track or stream students during their education(according to Wikipedia). It's a huge difference from the highly competitive and stressful environments students are exposed to in the other Asian countries. For example, in Singapore, Primary 2 students(8 years old) have to take an examination at the end of the year that will stream them into different classes based on how good their grades are. I hear that the teaching environment in Hong Kong is very competitive as well, with students striving to get into the top schools, even if they are just preschools. Finland's education seems to provide for a more stress-free learning environment, perhaps helping to encourage learning.
Here's a BBC article on the education thing, by the way.
