Which do you value more regarding the multiplayer of a video game? Does competitiveness translate to fun for you? Or do you prefer to play relaxed and/or just screw around?

What about this:

I don't find Multiplayer fun.

Life is a journey, if you spend all of it with your nose in your map, you may miss some of the best parts.

A competitive game can be casual.

A casual game cannot be competitive.

Bungie doesn't like French on their site.

Can't competitiveness and 'fun' be the same?

  • 11.28.2012 9:12 PM PDT

Not really into competitive.

Like playing relaxed and chill with no random Bs to induce rage.

The Flood's resident metalhead.

Competitive multiplayer just makes me rage nowadays... so I stick to casual gametypes. Very rarely do I get matched up in an even game, it's always my team gets dumped (rage) on or vice versa (boring).

  • 11.28.2012 9:13 PM PDT

competitive is fun.

  • 11.28.2012 9:15 PM PDT

It's split for me. I want a game that can be played competitively and casually. Halo 2 and 3 did that so well. If only other games could get a nice feel like they had. I find regular RPGs and MMOs generally balance casual and competitive play really well too; which is why I enjoy playing them.

Break the windowsill

I regard fun as any game having good enough skill ceiling or teamwork. Its not fun for me if kills are based on luck

  • 11.28.2012 9:16 PM PDT

Mreh.

Although, keep in mind that for some the competitiveness is part of the fun.

I find competitiveness fun, to a degree. I'm usually quite competitive, but I keep my temper when losing. I haven't raged at a game since MW2.

However, sometimes I need a break from competition and just screw around with my friend for a couple hours.

However the game needs to provide the tools to foster a competitive environment. There's a reason MLG isn't hosting Tic-Tac-Toe as its premiere game.

Let me break it down for you:

Competitiveness: You prefer a game that is competitive at its core. It games of that nature you enjoy the most and have the most fun with.

Fun: You don't need competitiveness to enjoy a game (A reminder; I'm just talking about multiplayer). You make your own fun within the game.

Sometimes I am tempted to quit gaming. I can no longer play without seeing ponyphags, horrendously bad teammates and mexicans.

Gaming community, I want you to know that you suck.

The Flood is going to answer fun because most of them haven't been good at anything in their lives.
