Anyway. Much to his surprise, I bluntly said "no"... and so he complained to the bus driver who then proceeded to kick me off the bus.

You shouldn't've backed down, OP. Be like the Rosa Parks against fatasses.

You know most people that are fat are fat because their parents were fat and the gene was just passed on.
This is true.

Yet it is no reason for them to get special privelages like that.

Exactly, which is why I refuse to change seats, unless an elderly, a pregnant woman, or such comes up and asks.

~Thread-killer~

On one hand, the OP has no real obligation to remove himself from his seat for fatty's sake.

On the other hand, the man may have actually had some sort of disability. Still, OP had no obligation to move. I know a guy who qualifies as a dwarf, due to a medical condition that limits his height, but he still has the weight of an average male. He's strong as an ox, and never puts himself above others due to his physical condition.

I understand giving up your seat for the elderly, pregnant, and those whom are injured, ie broken leg, etc. Being fat isn't a disability. Dude shouldn't expect preferential treatment for his Little Debbie addiction.

Gravity weakens the body, and the body atrophies naturally over time, it's been proven. Gravity doesn't make you fat. Lack of exercise and a healthy lifestyle makes you fat. I will not pity someone who doesn't take care of their body.

No one gives a flying -blam!- about your pity. How you feel is irrelevant entirely.

It's that at the time, one person needs the seat more than the other person.

One of the leading causes of paralysis in children is diving into shallow water. If, for example, you overheard a guy in a wheelchair had done exactly that, would you refuse to give him your seat because he "didn't use good judgement"? What about someone who was paralyzed because he was riding a bike without a helmet? A veteran disabled by an IED? Well, he should have been a bit faster, now shouldn't he have?

Like I said, are we going to just assume the worst about everyone and then act accordingly? Why are we singling out one group here?

Why would you give a guy in a wheelchair a seat is what I'm wondering..

You have to stand so that your seat can be folded up and his wheelchair locked into position where you were seated.

There's a large area for handicapped people on the buses that I ride.
