yeah I pretty much remember when DOOM was the pinnacle of FPS, the numbers don't look good today. not even a little bit. Halo was replaced by COD which will be replaced by Destiny. I do question the release of the new IP at the end of the 360's life though... that is risky, I guess it depends how long it is until the next gen comes out, then you'll have the whole why buy it on 360/ps3 if it is going to be released on the next gen too? who wants watered down games if/when there is a visible horizon of brilliance. okay i'm way off topic.

How do you know Destiny will be good? Bethesda made the Elder Scrolls but did Dishonored replace it in popularity? No.

You don't even know if it's a shooter.

Hahaha oh yes adding guns to the game is copying COD. Oh the whiners and their lack of good arguments.

More like, oh the defenders and their lack of good retorts.

You mean like the trend of most games these days? Specifically, FPS? The first week is always highest. This game generated more gross than Reach.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

This is pretty much what I would have expected, to be honest.

Hi I'm RT and I like to argue!

Relevant numbers from Reach.

If the numbers are accurate and H4 really is only getting a peak of 400k players, versus Reach's 1 million, then Houston we have a problem . . .

  • 11.29.2012 8:33 AM PDT

It's a'me, Sesto

Halo is dead. LOL

  • 11.29.2012 8:54 AM PDT

I honestly don't see where the game copied COD. It plays like any other Halo, but faster paced, which is what the franchise dearly needed after Reach.

Don't forget many people have moved away from the xbox to waiting for the next console or haven't got the game yet because its so close to Christmas and would rather wait.

Halo Reach was released in September and those figures are 2 months after release meaning the game is currently 2 months ahead of Halo 4.

Stop picking at straws and manipulating the numbers to suit.
I'm neither picking at straws nor manipulating numbers, and I fail to see why you'd think that.

As for your retorts, one is a baseless assumption (why would you stop playing Xbox to "wait" for new consoles that may or may not come next year?), and the other ignores the fact of the downward trend of H4's population. At this rate, expecting H4's population to be anywhere higher in November than it is now doesn't seem grounded in reality.

I'm not trying to bash H4, I think it's a great game, but the numbers simply are what they are and that's all I'm pointing out.

I like how you don't acknowledge perma-sprint, modifications, ordinance drops, instant respawn, join in progress, custom loadouts, point system, or kill-cams.

Ah, someone leaked. Now to find the leak and.... plug it.
With justice.

I use coup 5
Never Played halo 1 = Invalid opinion
Bloom isn't whats broken, its your idea of what good is and your opinion
Thats like saying uber nerf armor lock because like 20 percent of the community hates it. Oh wait..................

Bungie is no longer managing the Halo Universe. While our Halo-related forums and stats remain available, be advised that "official" answers and support about the Halo Universe (past, present, or future) are not.

Seriously though, how does this stuff ruin the game?

Something like reticle bloom ruined the game, because it added a factor of randomness to the game. All of the things you said, however, do not affect the game too poorly, as it doesn't add any randomness to the game.

Back in H3, everyone complained about AR starts. Loadouts fixed that problem. Don't like ordnance drops? Play Slayer Pro. You don't like the POINTS SYSTEM? Well deal with it. It makes no difference to gameplay. Don't like insta respawn? Slayer Pro. Don't like perma-sprint? It made the game faster, which was dearly needed after Reach.

Seriously though, the core gameplay is the same, just faster. None of the things you stated ruin the game.

Maybe your right. And they'd probably have about 25,000 dedicated players.

Yeah, or they would have the entire current Halo population and none of the CoD population. Kind of like what Halo 4 has right now; because attempting to steal the CoD fanbase is a fruitless idea and two games have already proven it! Apparently people are too stupid to realize that though. So let's just keep ruining Halo for the player base that wants to keep it the same as the originals and watch everyone slowly break off and find something better to play. /343/fanboylogic

I apologise for the accusation.

However I still believe the community won't cut Halo 4 or 343 a break, its 4 weeks from release and the numbers you provided are from 3 months after.

all the Halo games float around 400K more or less its silly to think everybody playing the game would be on all the time.

I enjoy Halo 4 but I haven't been on it because Planetside 2 has got my attention at the moment but I still hop on for Spartan Op's.
Thanks.

To be fair, "the community" didn't give Bungie much of a break after H3, ODST, and Reach, either. There's always a very vocal set of people with gripes. Such is video game forums. :-/

Also someone (elsewhere) just pointed out that it looks like those Reach numbers are daily unique user totals, as opposed to the H4 numbers which are daily peaks, and I think he's right, so they aren't really comparable. My bad on that!

WHO SAID YOU COULD CLICK ON MY MORE BUTTON!

Like it -blam!- matters, still number two on the Most played list, of course BLOPS is always going to be number one.

Please do not send me group invites.

I think it's safe to assume that most of H4's population is kids who are still in school. This time of year usually has a lot of homework, projects, and tests. Of course fewer people will be online on a weekday during this time of year, as opposed to a weekend shortly after the game came out.
