I am really hoping they would return and wage war with us and the covenant, because they view us as a inferior human form. And just hate the Storm because they are xenophobic.

i could agree but up to now it would feel so generic i hope they introduce the precursors and dive into the whole origin story for them as well

Whilst it would be cool. Especially with the "You know we have no choice. Cleanse the Planet" line which gave me chills. Really showed off their power.
It just wouldn't fit with the universe, unfortunately they all died, maybe recover a bit of their tech but thats about it,.

If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

The Librarian was essentially the one person responsible for preserving life after the firing of the Halo rings, and in her own words, she said, "I leave you here, my love, the only living thing in the galaxy*."

I think it's quite unlikely we will see any other major characters from the prehistoric era.

*From the final terminal video, entitled "Cryptum".

I am alpha, i am omega.

I am the last of the primes.

We might see an ancient human AI, that allows the UNSC to upgrade from the ancient human tech...

But wasn't most, if not all, of ancient human technology destroyed when the Didact defeated the humans and stranded them on Earth?

I feel like there's nothing left to discover... Although, I guess we can't be certain.

AH AI and tech, but we should't expect anything else.

I still wanna know what was in that crashed vessel in the Anniversary terminal.

Nobody cares about anyone else's opinion - be it mine, yours, or a cult of angry star wars nerds - when they are enjoying what they enjoy.

This.

As for the ancient humans, I'm sure there's still tech lying around somewhere. It's rather far-fetched that absolutely nothing survived from that period. For example, the ruins from The Babysitter were probably of ancient human origin.

I'll have the roast duck . . . with the mango salsa.

You mean the Giant-Space-Indians that appeared in the Waypoint videos? They seemed pretty badass.

Why are you here?

I always thought that would be so cool. But it won't happen, because of canon.

The forerunners could have retained some of the confiscated technology for research, a la the Flood. Especially considering how they were trying to discover humanity's "cure" for the Flood.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I'm pretty certain all the ancient humans are long gone now.
It would be nice to see precursors though.

No, there has never been any reliable statement in the entire Halo series telling us that all the Forerunners are dead - it's simply a preconception based on second-hand accounts and unreliable narrators.

Certainly many would have perished since not all of them would have made it to the various Shield Worlds, as 343 Guilty Spark said in Halo 2:

"They, and all additional sentient life within 3 radii of the galactic centre died, as planned."

But in Halo 3's last terminal, it's revealed that they are, in fact, alive, and have gone on the Great Journey. The librarian confirms this in Halo 4's campaign where she says "the Forerunners made plans for a final Great Journey".

Maybe the precursers will come back from extra-gallactic regions. Maybe the Precursers are the Flood, in which case, no.
