It's a psychological thing. Western women have been conditioned to think that being tiny and dainty is preferable, so having "small" feet is desired.

A man's foot is generally larger than a woman's foot.

Because our feet aren't the same shape/size/length/width/dimensions.

If we did, men would generally have much larger sized shoes than women and SOOOOOOOOOOOOMBODY would find that sexist...

and I am just teasing.

Women's clothing sizes are different (incomprehensible to most men) and are based on mostly even numbers that include zero (I said that it was odd).

Plus, they button their blouses on the opposite side that we button our shirts.

Or, we continue with the shoes tailored towards gender. I don't see the need for a universal shoe size.

A man's foot is generally larger than a woman's foot.
So men get a larger size of the universal system, and women get a smaller size. Simple.

No, I'm just wondering why we use a different number for men and women.
As a general rule a male foot is usually two sizes bigger than a female's.

so a ladies 10 would fit a man with size 8 feet.

Which, historically, is because they used to have someone dress them.

Remember Elk

Pretty sure we use the same for both in Sweden.
It kinda makes sense to do so.

Here in the UK we use a standardised system between both women and males. Clothes though are different, although that's due to no need to cross clothes (normally).

Men like to be big. Women like to be small. The end.
