There are going to be people attacking me for this, but it is true whether anybody likes it or not.
What are the true detriments of Halo 4? Lack of options. That's it. Custom Options, Theater, Campaign Scoring, Forge Options, and Firefight. Everything else that is shipped with the game works as intended. Whether they are lacking in quality is dependent on the way you look at it, like Spartan Ops and the UI.
I know I'm going to get heat for this, but this game was not designed with the key Halo formula in mind. I am honestly laughing at some of the people that are disappointed with this game for multiplayer reasons. Saying how it isn't balanced, competitive, or even "Halo" makes me laugh. It's like, no -blam!- -blam!-? You are just realizing that now?
The moment I saw one multiplayer game way before release, I knew this game wasn't going to be the "Halo" that I once loved. I came to terms with that then, and I wasn't disappointed when I finally got what I expected. A casual, unbalanced, and incentive-lacking generic sci-fi fps. In laymen's terms, Reach 2.0 or Call Of Halo. I know for a fact that some are going to be pissed at me for making that statement, but just look at the damn game.
You have to unlock everything for your custom loadouts. That right there is two giant points that take this game far away from the classic Halo style. Ordinance Drops. Now we are just getting even farther into the unbalanced section of multiplayer. Instant and Dynamic Spawning. These should have been major things to think about back then as well. Don't forget about irremovable Sprint as well. Do you want to know what the best part about it is though? None of the aspects in this paragraph are "detriments" to the game, and they are not "broken". They just break the foundation of the classic Halo game mechanics. Is that bad? The answer is only yes if you are looking at this game from a Halo/competitive standpoint, and if you were looking at this game from a Halo/competitive standpoint at launch, then I guess you should have watched at least one multiplayer game before buying the damn thing.
Is Halo 4 pushing the community away? I would say yes if it was referring to the competitive and/or classic Halo multiplayer community. I would also agree that the lack of options are major detriments to the overall package of Halo 4 as well, and were a backstab overall.
343i just wants to make this new trilogy their franchise. It is only a bad thing if you are looking at it the wrong way.
I would agree that what is good isn't really much, but there is some promise in the game itself. I just hope they fix the mistakes they have made asap.
You know, you made an excellent point. This isn't the original Halo. This is 343i's Halo. Somehow, I forgot about that.
Thanks
