Subject: Would you want European Super state?

With powers constantly being taken away from soverign countries and passed over to Brussels every time a bailout loan is given to a member country of the EU or every time the members sign a new treaty has lead people to believe that behind the scenes, European leaders are trying to create a European super state.

One example would be that European countries now have no control over immigrants coming from other European countries.

Another would be that the EU is trying to force countries to let prisoners have the vote. Something the UK is strongly against.

A European super state would create the worlds largest economy which could be a great ally or great enemy. In this time with rising powers such as China, Russia and India. Do you not think that a united Europe will be vital for helping to maintain western ideologies and influence over the rest of the world. The USA and a United Europe would certainly be able to do so and be one of the strongest alliances in history and would help maintain western dominance in the world for those of you that want it.

Just something that has been on my mind as of late

For those looking to vent, get proper advice, or give it to those in need.

It's heading that way and is a solution to the current woes the continent is facing. You'd lose the UK though.

Bungie doesn't like French on their site.

If it helps the Europeans, go for it.

They call me graland.

No, that would be terrible. It would exacerbate the problems the EU is already having.

Uh... No it wouldn't. How do you figure that? Mutualize European debt and it's very manageable. A banking union (which is inevitable) will happen. Streamlining a lot of stuff moves towards efficiency. European trade is inefficient because of different laws and infrastructure implementations that means transporting goods is unnecessarily cumbersome. You avoid regional governments with out of control fiscal policy since there is greater oversight.

The claim that the problems become worse with greater integration is baseless. You don't understand the economics of the issues Europe faces.

Because centralising a diverse continent under a single government is really going to increase efficiency. Nothing says efficient like massive bureaucracy.

Oh, and have fun subsidising Greece.

Actually it does. I don't fabricate claims. European companies honestly deal with a lot of burdensome regulation and cumbersome transportation costs because there isn't a streamlined European infrastructure system.

The EU issues today are similar to the issues that plagued infant United States. You can't have unified monetary policy and half assed federalism and expect efficiency. Breaking up the union is economic Armageddon. There's a reason why people make a big deal about the EU breaking up.
