This is being attached to a "general scholarship application" for a local, 4-year Uni. I have the grades and credentials to get a full ride, but there aren't specific applications for specific scholarships. You send in one, and a committee considers you for whatever you are applicable for.
Any who, read over this (if you would) and tell me if it appears to be on a collegiate level. It's short because it's only supposed to be 1 page, which is rather difficult for an essay.
I've never been very great at writing essays about myself. In fact, I'd much rather be painfully berated by a committee about my personal life than sum up my qualifications in a few paragraphs. However, that's obviously not how this works, so I'll move on to the point. I believe I'm deserving of financial aid through scholarships because I've worked through a lot of stressful situations in my life, I have a large interest in higher education, and I eagerly anticipate the challenge. The only problem is my lack of the ability to afford the expenses of a college degree.
Firstly, when I say "stressful situations" I mostly mean dealing with money or a lack there of. Having to witness your parents /guardians be in a state of high distress over fiscal issues throughout your childhood grants you a particular interest in succeeding in life, at least financially. Further than that, though, I also have a strong desire to raise and be able to take care of my own family in the future.
Be that as it may, I'm not entirely interested in the monetary rewards of higher education. I have a very strong desire to learn new materials, especially those in the field of science. Grasping new concepts and formulating my own thoughts and opinions on them was, and still is, my favorite part about school, and I believe college will be my greatest opportunity to further that passion.
Finally, I enjoy the feeling of being challenged with and overcoming new and difficult problems. For instance, I've been taking college level algebra through a concurrent enrollment program at SWOSU. Although I have struggled a bit due to unexpected absences making my school life turn into Satan's domain itself, I still have way too much fun sitting down with a new lesson and using what I've been taught throughout my high school career to solve each problem like it was a puzzle.
Now that it's clear of what motivates me to attend a university such as [redacted], I'll conclude by saying that I need any and all scholarships I can possibly obtain. I will have no help from my family when it comes to money and I have been far too close to someone as their life was virtually brought down around them from failure to keep up with loans, so neither are options. I have every desire to be successful in life and have new and challenging experiences as I pursue a college degree, but I need the financial aid to do so. I hope you will consider me on any scholarship I'm applicable for. I'll have my fingers crossed.
