Generalizations.
Helping idiots hate other idiots since people have existed.

It adds randomness in place of skill.

I play halo 3 for enjoyment. I've noticed this game and community has changed alot since it's release.

It pretty much eliminates aiming.

Aiming=skill

My point is that if anything, the noobs are the ones worst affected by bloom.

It doesn't matter. People found things to complain about in Halo 3 that was "for noobs". See my post above.

Well, not just gamers. It's a sad fact of human nature that some idiots have to complain about everything...

Yes, you're right. It's human nature to blame something else when things don't go your way.

But this seems to be a learned trait.

I just think Bloom is rather silly, and it does more to make weapons inconsistant and frustrating than it does to balance them out. I haven't gotten a good feel for Bloom in Halo 4, but in Reach it was pretty abysmal.

Take a pure skill match. Better players wins 9/10 times.

Now take a match based on randomness. Better plays only wins 5/10 times, based on simple probability.

See how it works?

Oh the irony.

What? Who's saying Bloom helps Noobs? If anything, it's a detriment to Noobs since they can't aim.

  • 11.29.2012 5:40 PM PDT

It turns a shooter into a coinflip. Heads I get 4 accurate shots and 1 misses tails all 5 shots hit from the same exact encounter.

This is my alt account.

Main: DarkONI

343 Industries doesn't want to help the noobs, they want to troll them.

Exactly my point.

When it is as bad as it is in Reach a random stray bullet can still kill.

I think I love you...

I mean, bloom has been Halo since the first one so I don't know why there's a problem in the first place.

An FPS isn't like a roll of a dice. If it was, we'd be playing a board game.

Obviously it's not as clear-cut as I presented, but do you see how the aspect of randomness helps a worse player?

An FPS is never a game of chance. If it were, we actually would be flipping coins.

With random bloom it is.

Your brother is stupid then. Or at least wrong. That isn't its goal whatsoever. Its purpose is to balance the sandbox so there isn't one, all powerful weapon. In Halo: CE it was obviously the pistol. In Halo 2 and then Halo 3, the BR.Halo: Reach introduced Bloom so we could have a long/mid-range weapon, but not have it dominate at every single range.

It was an incredibly sound concept, it just wasn't implemented correctly. Unfortunately, this distinction is lost on most of the Reach haters.

So you're saying that bloom isn't random. Even though the bullets land randomly inside the reticle.

Burrito, I'm curious. How is Bloom supposed to theoretically balance out the sandbox? Because the way I see things, it only enables weapons like the DMR to dominate close range weapons.

The bloom was not nearly as bad on the main precision weapon as it was in Reach. (The pistol)
