I think that, if you look through all the references, easter eggs, and downright dozens of connections of Marathon in Halo, I think we can assume a little bit of Bungie's intentions between those two games.

All of the outrght in your face references and easter eggs were in H1, H2, and H3...and then seemingly absent from later Bungie Halo games. Irrevocable, core connections like MJOLNIR in both games and so and so forth couldn't be changed, but the other stuff was ommited.

Bungie seperated from MS shortly after Halo 3's release. It is my theory Bungie fully intended for Marathon and Halo to be in the same Universe and exist together eventually, but once the final details were settled and they could not retain Halo. It was too late in the Halo 3 dev cycle to take out all the easter eggs, so they began in the later games. All the Marathonn symbols and such weren't there.

As we know, Bungie still owns Marathon though. What I ponder upon, is if Bungie will incorporate Marathon with Destiny as they so wanted to do with Halo?

What do you think?

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

There is a theory that every Bungie game is connected in the same universe.

"You are the diction, not me!"

The Spectagon

Grizzled Newborn

Seems a little farfetched to me.

They may be connected, but it's not like the actual elements from other games carry over. I mean, we didn't see Security Cyborg protagonist man from Marathon in Halo.

Perhaps we'll see Marathon characters and plot points in Destiny.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

There's already a thread for this.

Rain, and Jazz.
Halo: Tactical

I'm either a fool or an inteligent man, depending on how sleepy or angry I am.

I originaly made an account on 07.27.2007 but I wanted to link my GT and made this account. Don't forget your passwords!

Funfact: Destiny can be looked up in the dictionary.

It's likely that they chose "Destiny" because of it's past refrences too. Like how an author can see room to fit a lot of story into a sequil of a book by finding ways vauge/non-specific things can be interpreted.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

That would be cool to see them do that to their past games.

I'm sure they could add in some halo references/easter egg's. I dont think they will get done for copyright stuff, yes microsoft owns it but bungie did create it after all, they would still be entitled to do things like easter egg's i assume.
