Subject: Does having a Christmas Tree in public really offend anyone???

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I see this every year that people get offended that there is a Christmas Tree in like a town square, a public office, etc.

It is now becoming more "politically correct" to say happy Holidays and saying "Merry Christmas" is becoming offensive. Isn't that a bit silly?

It amazes me that people actually protest to have Christmas Trees removed from these places saying it offends them. How does a Tree offend you?

It's fine if you don't celebrate it but getting offended by somebody who does is ridiculous.

It's definitely more considerate to say "Happy Holidays" though, and I don't think it has anything to do with politics.

In today's day and age of butthurt, someone will complain. Doesn't offend me, however.

You look around. You fire your weapon before you realize.
Its just me. I fall and you walk up. You cry why.
When i pop up. You look at me in wonder. I say,"ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL."
You bend to my will and go to a cliff, walk off, and fall.
The last thing you hear is me stating as fact,"All will fail the battle of life, you just went early"

I don't care what anyone says. I'm still going to say Merry Christmas and go about my Christmas business as always.

I just hate how politically correct everyone is getting today. People get so butthurt of other people "believing in what they don't believe". I don't want to ruin/change how other people enjoy the holidays. No one is forcing you to be part of Christmas or any holiday.

If you think trees should be removed and you shouldn't say merry christmas you should not get to get to celebrate or get time off during christmas.

The thing is Christmas seems to be loosely tied to one belief now-a-days.

It is a symbol of the holiday season and traditional to America culture.

It is not something meant to offend someone's culture, it is part of the scenery.

My shit bacteria takes offense to that comparison.

Don't make me lel. You won't like me when I lel.

The issue isn't the tree, it's the monopolisation of public space by a particular religion, as Dutchy said.

I myself am fine with Christmas trees in any case, as I don't really see them as a religious symbol (and don't really care that much in the first place).

Except for the whole CHRIST in its name and all, with SAINT Nick and all that...

Think about it some more.

If you were here and the ONLY public holiday was celebrating the faith you weren't in...

Break down, every single one of you.

No. I say merry Christmas. You say happy Hanukkah. I really don't care.

Why are you butthurt over a city not calling a tree a "Christmas" tree? If it's really not a big deal, then why make it one? If it's really such a small issue, then why worry about what other people call it?

See, the issue here is that you and your beliefs are so incredibly fragile that what a city decides to call their giant, lit up tree with ornaments on it somehow "changes/ruins" how you enjoy your holiday. You don't have to change what you call it, no matter what the city calls it. "Political correctness" goes both ways here.

I am not trying to make this religious but I think that removing these things relating to one even to be politically "fair" makes the holidays less enjoyable for others.

People like seeing the Christmas trees, kids like meeting Santa, in our culture today this is the norm for the holidays.

Even if I didn't "believe" in the holidays, I wouldn't go out of my way to ruin traditions and make the holiday less enjoyable for others.

I don't see how something existing should make me mad if it is optional to be involved in it.

If someone gets so mad at the sight of a Christmas Tree that they demand it is taken down, they have problems or need to learn to chill.

What!?!

That's the dumbest reason I have ever heard. They could put their stuff where ever they want.

It's not like there is literally a Christmas tree every three feet.

You'd have to be an idiot to be offended by a holiday or a tree.
