"What are we holding on to, Sam?"
"That there's some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for."

That's not so much the part that concerns me. It's more that I'm highly antisocial and really bad at relating to people. Just to put this in perspective, I spend all my time on the Internet Chess Club and playing D&D. I'm more concerned that I'll do something silly based on the fact that I don't do well in social situations. But if you think it's worth a shot anyway, I suppose I can try.
I'm fairly anti-social, too. I planned for weeks to simply talk to the girl I liked. I planned what I was going to say, I planned everything. I really don't do well in one on one situations. It came down to the final day of college, and it paid off.
Sometimes, not doing something is worse than doing something. You can weigh in all the what-ifs, buts, ifs and maybes, but until you actually do something. You'll never know.
I just don't want to live a life full of regret, missed opportunities and looking back wondering 'what if'. I want to look back, when I'm 60 and be glad at everything I did.
That actually sounds just like me. I'll at least give it a shot then, though I'm hardly overflowing with confidence here. You're one of the few people on this forum I respect, so if it's worth a try I'll go for it.
