Subject: When will we begin mining the moon?

The moon is bound to have resources up there that we could use. Not to mention Helium-3, which could power the world for thousands of years with little effort.

When we find something worth while
That means finding a really cool rock, and finding some really cool use for that really cool rock

Or until NASA gets bored

I've got a fan!

Never, because it's impractical. As for energy, nuclear power is where it's at.

I find that Teh-Ziod is NOT attractive for the reasons
she/he does not correct format sentences, therefore for intelligent matured members of society that may interact with her/him, may find her/him UNattractive for the reason that she/he does not comprehend with their level to successfully have a conversation therefore it will be socially an awkward interaction which may be wanted to be avoided

second i do not find it physically possible for a PERSON to be a ice cream truck.

Probably once we deal with that bear problem at our moon base.

This post made me happy.

As soon as it's profitable.
Right now, you have to spend billions to get up there and even more billions to set up a mining process... for energy?

Who am I?

When it becomes financially reasonable I guess.

So not very soon.

The Universe demands to be noticed, to be seen, and dutifully noted.

What use all those incredible firework dimensions if no eye fixes and reflects, no brain takes notes, no heart moves with passion at the display?

NASA answers the silent cry of the Cosmos for recognition.

NASA is the witness and we fellow witnesses to the endless deeps.

We'll need to use the moon as a stopping point if mankind really wants to colonize the solar system - fuel is abundant, at least according to satellites that indicate large reserves of frozen water at the poles - plus the energy required to lift an equivalent payload off the moon is much less than that needed to lift off the Earth.

So, if the Obama Administration wants to reach Mars by 2030 (which I don't think is happening, given the political inertia of the current government) - we'll need to have basic infrastructure in place by 2023-2025, which is highly unlikely.

I'm confused...since when do we use water as fuel?

The future is hydrogen powered cars bud. Fossil Fuels will eventually become too expensive to be used a source.

Electrolysis! Pass a current through ordinary H20 and you form o2 and h2!

Hydrogen has a very low energy density and isn't a viable fuel source. The future is electric cars powered by nuclear reactors and fossil fuels.
