Mark my words Flood, with Activision publishing Bungie's new game, they're going to be pushing hard for lots of "Call of Duty" esque gameplay elements to appeal to the people that play the accursed series. We already know that the game is going to have online muliplayer, so I think we all know where this game is headed.

And if Bungie starts doing becoming like Call of Duty, where will it stop?

Mark my words Flood.

Variety never did exist. All FPS games are ridiculously similar.

Is Activision dumb enough to compete with itself?

I'll answer my own question: no. Activision may have poisoned the industry, perhaps irreparably, but it's EA that is rapidly killing franchises in an attempt to have a multibillion dollar flagship franchise.

And they always have, and always will. Stop being melodramatic. Call of Duty is popular, because every single feature in the game fantastic in concept at the very least. Other games adopt those concepts as GIVEN in the future.

For example: All FPS's these days now have the ability to Jump. That was a fantastic innovation made by one FPS first, and was permanently adopted.

Another: All FPS's these days have the ability to aim up and down. Was not always the case.

Another: All FPS's these days are adopting a sprint function. Wasn't the case as little as six years ago.

Another: Almost all FPS's these days have some form of regenerating health at this point. This was unheard of 12 years ago.

Changes occur, they become universally adopted or phased out, and then we FORGET ABOUT IT.

GOAT

You know you've made the greatest video game franchise ever when people immediately compare other games to it by saying "Call of (insert game)"

No, Eventually you will become an adult and realize that videogames are videogames, and enjoying them is much less work than debating how -blam!- every single one of them is.

Or, you know, I was using satire to prove a point.

I am a penguin. Every day I boogie on down to the water, and eat fish. Once, while fishing in the deepest depths, I saw great Cthulhu... And he said to me "Shine, to thine own self be true. They can't tell you what to do once you've gone guru." Also, I should tell you, "slide".

This is the stupidest thread, with the stupidest original post that I have ever read.

Those guys who thought that Halo: Reach was going to take place on the Halo 3 LE ending planet? Not as dumb.

People who think the Halo 1 assault rifle was worth anything? Way smarter than this.

So they say. But Activision controls its company's with an iron fist.

They could control their company with a golden hammer; it doesn't matter. It's in a contract, and as far as I know, Activision has very little to say in what game Bungie actually makes. As long as Bungie is meeting the terms of the contract, and making them a whole lot of money, why would Activision want to try anything anyway?

So, unless I totally misunderstood what the contractual details were, and Activision are even bigger jerks than we think, nothing bad should happen. All we have to do is trust Bungie. And that, at least for me, is pretty easy.

This. I'd imagine Bungie would've taken care to insure full rights (creative and otherwise) to Destiny belong to them alone following their experience with Microsoft, along with Activision's reputation.

The more I say Chang the more asian it sounds.

So? Hell I don't care if it becomes what you say, it's Bungie. They make what they want, just like they did Marathon, Halo, etc.

If they wanna make another CoD clone or whatever it's what they wanna do at the end of the day. Deal with it.
