Lately i have been having issues with RAM on my PC. it's almost always at 3.80 out of 4 Gigs, and i haven't been able to figure out why, it's like that from start up every time.

I was just updating an MMO, Aion, and the only thing i can assume is that the RAM usage is killing my PC.

Do anyone of you know what I can look for to free up some RAM? I'm planning to buy a RAM chip but it'll be a month or two.

I recently tried out this program, Reg Cure Pro, thinking it might help my PC out. Now whenever i uninstall it, it just pops up again. Is this a probably cause?

I also heard some virus protection software's can -blam!- up your RAM, I do believe i have McCafy,(Possibly wrong spelling) Probably cause?

Any other things i should look out for?

It is used by the system, you cant increase it unless you buy RAM chips. When you have 4 gb's of RAM in reality you only have 3.80 because the system uses it.

3.80 is whats constantly used, so would you mean you only have 0.20 gb if i have for?

No. 0.20 is constantly used, so you have 3.80.

But whats constantly being used on my computer is 3.80. I keep a close eye on it so i would know. What im asking is what programs i might look to getting rid of to help form up some ram.

You cant get rid of it, the 0.20 RAM being used is running essential parts of your PC.

So what you saying is because my PC requires .20 gigs, I can't get rid of that other 3.60 gigs being used by my computer?

You cant delete RAM...If you did your computer wouldn't even be able to run. RAM is what your computer uses to run programs and such, for example a game normally requires 4 gb's of RAM now a days because of its CPU requirements.

This is a really light definition of it but i hope you get what i mean.

See, It's clearly that you don't get what I'm saying. I'm not saying i CONSTANTLY have .20 FREE GIGS.

And constantly 3.80 IS BEING USED.

Thats because that is whats required for your computer to run...this really isn't hard to understand.

That is because i didn't understand what you meant at first, sorry about that. I have myself confused now i apologize. However i don't think there is a way to "stop" your computer from running RAM because as i said before that's part of its processing. Also RAM certainly does not cause your computer to crash as it is essential.

Use task manager to get rid of the .exe files that use most of the ram.
If you run any programs when the computer opens, make sure they won't run.
Also, if that doesn't help, get new RAM chips.

No, he said in his first reply in the thread that 3.80 is being constantly used.

As for fixing it, I have no idea. I always have only 1.90GB to work with for some reason, but it's enough for me.

the taskmanager is my only way of knowing how much ram I have/ The only things i haven running atm are Chrome really. I'll probably end up buying more RAM before the end of december though.

He says "You really only have 3.80 gigs when you have 4 gigs."

and later states you can't get rid of that .20 gigs.

This guys avatar is literally my face for this entire thread.

OP, I'd like you to do something for us if it is not too hard. We need a screenshot of your Task Manager.

Screenshots of both Performance and Processes would be nice. For processes, you should list memory in ascending order (high to low) and this will give us a very immediate indication of what is using the most of your RAM.

as for the Performance tab, that will just affirm what you've already said in terms of 3.8 blah blah.

Task manager shows all the background processes.
Such as the useless .exe's that Microsoft couldn't bother remove when they moved on the .dll formats for their system files rather then .exe.
Task Manager doesn't show your RAM, t just shows all the background processes, and it lets you disable those processes.

Sergeant Explosion and The Quiet Day in London.

Open task manager; go to the performance tab.

There should be a button in there that says Resource Monitor, click on that. In that window, go to the Memory tab, and it should have your processes sorted by how much RAM they are using. I'm sure you should be able to figure it out from there.

Tried it. Problem is figuring out the required EXE's with seemingly meaningless names from the others.
