Subject: Anyone else feel that?

While I feel we're getting very close to the game being revealed (possibly as early as the VGAs, I'm sure as hell tuning in), I feel that Bungie.next isn't as close as some people think. I'm seeing Bungie Day or later as the time when we'll first get our hands on it.

You think it would be smart to keep it a secret until months before release? I just can't imagine that from a hype standpoint. 9 months would be adequate. getting cryptic messages in tv shows would be cool too (expensive). I was thinking maybe they are waiting for a next-gen announcement from Microsoft on their next console....
It seems we're talking about two seperate things.

As I said, while I feel that a game reveal will be coming very very soon, I think that Bungie will not be revealing Bungie.next on the heels of Destiny's Announcement. There's no urgency for them to do so, and especially if they are integrating stats from Destiny, it makes sense for them to release the website much later when all the details on those statistics are more finalized.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

A Bungie Day release would be pretty awesome.

Warning: You may find that my, or someone else's opinion does not comply with yours. Side effects of disagreement may include (but are not limited to): flaming, irrational behavior, broken keyboards, and/or nervous sweats. If you experience any of these symptoms refrain from communicating with others until the symptoms have subsided.

I think the webteam is quite content with leaving the site the way it is until they actually have to change things (integrate Destiny stuff). I really don't think we'll see it until we get much more information on Destiny, which could be months from now; I really only think we'll be seeing some kind of teaser trailer at the VGA's and won't be seeing solid information until late January, early February, with the site update coming some time after that.

In any case, don't expect anything to be right around a corner, because when you turn and see nothing, you'll just be left disappointed.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

The question is how far is the game into development.

I'm going to guess that Jason Jones has been in pre-production for years, there's no telling how many years, but I gander at least since 2007. There were hints about Destiny in ODST which was released in 2009. (It had it's final name then) Jason Jones wasn't the lead on ODST or Reach, so we can assume he's been working on the universe for a relatively long time. (Perhaps has had some writers and some artists working with him flesh it all out.)

And we can assume production started after the release of Reach, which was in fall of 2010. So actual full studio working on Destiny and realizing Jason's vision for the past 2 years. (If not more...)

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten
