The tank is cool and all, but what about the grey orb infront of it? Has someone opened a thread about it?
You mean the frog poop?

It's a frog tank. Half frog, half tank, and half badass.

Why did this suddenly start playing in my head?
Now we need to come up with prime directives for frog tank.

EDIT:

What if the tank is actually a living thing?
An alien with covered in armor and big ass guns would be easier to produce than full metal tanks.

You tank dies? Just remove the "Tank Top" and attach it to another one of those walking creatures you have in storage. Even it the creature does die you could still have a immobile tank.

The "Tank Beasts" could also be outfitted with other weapons.
I doubt it but I like it.

Remember in Halo 3 when the Scarab was scaling buildings and walls with ease? I'm guessing this tank can do the same.

Oh yeah, since somebody does not believe what YOU believe; that makes us vapid...
I cannot grasp that what you call "Something happened to nothing, and that nothing became something, and it was smaller than than a period."

I have no idea why they would have walking tanks. They do look cool though.

The world is quiet here. -L.S.

See you starside.

I'm not reading through five pages to see if the one idea I had for it having legs was mentioned, so apologies if it's been said before:

It's an artillery tank by the looks of it. Digging in its legs will give a far better balance when firing than a treaded tank would. Treaded tanks recoil and can spin slightly out of their line of sight, meaning they have to re-align. With legs, the knees absorb the majority of the kinetic energy while the spread footholds prevent slippage.

This.
Somewhat, relevant.
Because if it worked in Chromehounds physics, it must work in real life!

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

What makes you think the tank/frog is facing right? The main gun, position of the legs, and the general direction of the concept art indicates that the front is the left side.

Just as long as i can assume direct control.

The frog tanks face is the first thing I noticed. I can't unsee it now.

Legs are much better suited for going over rough terrain than treads, if you can control them individually. Has anyone here ever read Micro by Micheal Crichton? Great book that opens your eyes to the world of insects..

Now we need to come up with prime directives for frog tank.

1. "Serve the community's trust"
2. "Protect the members"
3. "Uphold the code of conduct"
4. "Any attempt to terminate a senior Bungie employee results in shutdown"

Covan was here, December 20th.

Come back later, after he's out of Parris Island.

I figured that the concept art was an image of the aliens that you fight against.

I didn't think that human armor would have 4 eye sockets to see out of, when humans only have two eyes.

Amount of "eyes" in human scifi helmets ranges from zero to n...

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

I decided to make a cover photo which was based on the Destiny artwork and a couple speculation threads from the community.

Hope you guys like it

You can see the frog tank. Helveck/Sonic John's smiling Destiny symbol, and I threw some Bane and futurama references in there aswell.

Pretty cool! =P

But I still think it's some kind of flea, not frog.

Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

Actually, this has been my assumption all along. Some sort of organic beast which has been trained and fitted with an armored carapace with weaponry attached. Sort of like a sci-fi howdah. If the creature is native to that particular environment, then arguments about mobility and such are likely moot as it is probably perfectly suited to the task already.

As to why this would be the case: why not? Humans have dome similar in the past, and this has been a popular idea in sci-fi and fantasy settings before. Think about the Oliphants in Lord of the Rings. Did they make a whole lot of sense? No, but they sure as hell were cool.
