Chief vs the scarab? I find that hard to believe to roundhouse boot the scarab's figurative emotion out of the gaming zone.

EDIT:
What if the tank is actually a living thing?
An alien with covered in armor and big ass guns would be easier to produce than full metal tanks.
You tank dies? Just remove the "Tank Top" and attach it to another one of those walking creatures you have in storage. Even it the creature does die you could still have a immobile tank.
The "Tank Beasts" could also be outfitted with other weapons. I doubt it but I like it.Actually, this has been my assumption all along. Some sort of organic beast which has been trained and fitted with an armored carapace with weaponry attached. Sort of like a sci-fi howdah. If the creature is native to that particular environment, then arguments about mobility and such are likely moot as it is probably perfectly suited to the task already.
As to why this would be the case: why not? Humans have dome similar in the past, and this has been a popular idea in sci-fi and fantasy settings before. Think about the Oliphants in Lord of the Rings. Did they make a whole lot of sense? No, but they sure as hell were cool.
