Subject: Will Destiny be better then Halo?

And so the war of Gods and Demons shall begin. Tomorrow will end with your heart in my hand!

Love ya! =3

So, as you all know, Bungie recently released some concept art from there new game. And thanks to this video by IGN, we now have a deeper glimps into the universe of Destiny.
I for one am moar exited then I think I've been in a very long time.
But, I thought of a scary, but tatelizing possiblility.
What if Destiny is far better then Halo?
I mean, sure, the gameplay will most likely blow Halo out of the water. But what about the story?
I fell in love with Halo ever since I first picked up that classic controller to play some Halo 2. I have beaten all of the Campaigns (Including Halo Wars) and have read almost every novel. I've come to think of Halo's story as one of the greateset storys ever told. Certainly the best one told in recent years.
But, I never thought something could top Halo. I mean, it's Bungie, they made Halo, so they'll deffenatly make something truly amazing.
What I got from the IGN vid told me that Destiny has a very good chance to beat Halo.
Now, I never thought anything could though. So I'm a lttle scared, and happy, that this is possible. Though I always knew Bungie could do it.

What do you guys think?

What defines, "better"? Everyone will have their own opinion on the game so we will have to wait to see. I think everyone can agree that we all have faith in Bungie though. After all, we're still here. Right?

mah twitter

1. No way to know based on few pictures.
2. Which Halo?
3. I thought it's going to be different genre?

1. Click the link to the IGN vid.
2. All of them. Halo's story in general. The lore.
3. The story, not the gameplay.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

My guess is yes, but like others have said, it's too early to properly tell.

I would like to say "It's too early to say" but...

YES! IT WILL! Bungie is no longer constrained by Microsoft, and Bungie has a record of making each new game grander than the last!

...or at least each new IP...

I'll just leave this here...

Activision is a billion times worse than Microsoft, unless Bungie has them by the balls.

Yes, way to early to make that decision.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

I have hope that it will surpass it.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

I don't know if I'm going to prefere its identity more; Spartans vs [Destiny equivalent], for instance, but I might like its coherence--if there is any--and overall accomplishments more.

If it's anything like the leaked information pointed towards, it's got a really good shot at becoming just as good, or better than Halo.

I acknowledge my user name is stupid. However, I promise I'm not.

Disclaimer: The latter is a lie.

Far too early to tell. However, from the limited knowledge I do have of the game it does sound very promising.

like everyone else is saying its way to early to tell.

I think the story of Halo is amazing and Bungie helped build it.. so it will always be up there on my list.

So that being said and because Bungie is building this story I think it could be the best story ever to me... but we'll have to wait and see.

I dont know, I mean Halo has over 10 years of great fiction backing it up. I guess we will find out soon.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Since it is clear that Bungie was yearning to do something "other than Halo", I think that the question is better phrased as "Will Destiny even be anything like Halo?"

Because if it is, then why was Bungie so eager to go off and do more of the same when they could have easily stayed where they were if making "Halo but better" was their goal.

It took conscious effort on my part not to initially view Halo through Marathon-fan glasses. It's going to be easier (this time around) for me to not look at Destiny through Halo-fan glasses and explore Destiny for what it is (whatever that may be).

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Halo has tons of Marathon references, some more subtle than others.

I am sure there will be tons of Halo stuff in Destiny also.

Even though halo and Marathon have their similarities, there is still significant differences in their gameplay that make them each very unique.

War.
War never changes.

We can't know until the game comes out, but I honestly hope it develops like Halo did, what with the novels, lasting a decade, etc.

I would say so, many significant differences, thank god.

For starters, there is a lot less screaming in Halo.

You can't duel wield shot-guns in Halo. :'(

You can't hold 6 weapons and rockets in Halo. :'(

Marathon is really fast paced and does not look like a modern FPS.

No invincibility in Halo MM :)

Better than Reach? Absolutely. Reach's campaign dropped the ball, but I'm under the assumption that the only reason this is so is because Bungie was more so experimenting with new ideas for their next project after Halo 3 rather than concentrating on staying true to Halo's lore.

The exciting part is that Bungie is finally back in their zone of creating games they genuinely want to, not games they are forced into. We have all seen the power of Bungie to make games they truly want to make (original trilogy).
