I never really listen to it as it's not my thing. However, listening to the LotR theme and now the Hobbit soundtrack, I've been reminded that sometimes it can be so moving and peacful. I just don't like the stuff they used to show us in music class.

How about you, Flood?

Life is like a clogged toilet. It's full of crap until you do something about it.

I don't speak Karate!

Normally it's better, both technique-wise and in composition than almost everything else, regardless of genre.

I am a monument to all your sins

I really like orchestral pieces.

  • 11.30.2012 5:07 PM PDT

I love instrumental and orchestral music.

  • 11.30.2012 5:07 PM PDT

1.) "Crack In Time" - Louder Production Music
2.) "Agressive Sucks" - Moss Landing
3.) Custom Version of "Meet Oscar" - Louder Productions Music
4.) "Behind You Rise" - Distortion Music
5.) "Aurora" - Mark Petrie
6.) "Surge Down - Audio Machine

For my age and generation (15 years old), it's a bit odd to listen to Orchestrated instrumental music. But I love it.

I've got a few complete scores in my library, I'll name a few albums/movie music I like.

Inception
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
The Avengers
The Dark Knight
Every Halo Soundtrack
The Amazing Spider-Man
Arby N' The Chief (Season 4-7)

I have plenty more, but I love orchestrated music!

It's my favourite genre, if you can call it that.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

A symphony can be an amazing thing. 100 or so consummate professionals each doing their utmost to bring 1 person's vision and creation to life for a live audience.

Some have said that there is no more powerful form of human emotional expression, than that which a brilliantly performed symphony can do.

Think about it. These people are capable of allowing you, sitting there in the audience, to have a profound and intimate look into the heart and soul of someone who has been dead for centuries. Pretty freaking amazing if you ask me.

How do I feel?
I've got a playlist.

As for the more classical stuff? Bach's my favorite.
Classic.

Agreed.
I usually listen to bands like Pearl Jam because their lyrics speak to me etc. , but now and again, a good symphony will just blow my mind.

I love it. Nothing quite like the sound of an orchestra warming up.

When I hear it in metal, per-se A7X or Machine Head, it really does add a new flavor.

As it stands, orchestras are simply beautiful and genius.

You could say that of classical compositions but a lot of soundtrack music is pretty formulaic and basic in comparison.

I've always been a fan of Mars [The Bringer of War]. Epic orchestra music. Even more fun to play.

Baroque music forms the basis for some of the most epic orchestral scores - just take a look at Mozart's 'Requiem' or Verdi's 'Dies Irae' (Days of wrath, I think.) To see what I mean.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

Here's some atypical modern chamber music, smaller than a full symphony, but composed and conducted by Frank Zappa.

It shows what an orchestra is capable of, even with some odd instruments.
