Ignore my gamertag. It's actually Dragonzzilla.
I just finished reading the latest issue of Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye (I highly recommend checking it out, it's IDW Publishing which is set in very updated G1 universe both similar and not similar to Prime; it's a lot more mature).
Anyway, the series switches between present-day post-war and the events before the war. One particular senator was named Shockwave who was prone to emotional outbursts, expressing his feelings and changing his colors to better fit his mood. But eventually "The Institute" get a hold of him: Senator Shockwave was taken to the Institute and his entire personality and mood rewritten to turn him from a fiery crusader into an emotionless husk. Adding insult to injury, empurata (Cybertronian practice where you remove a criminals hands and head and replace them with a single eye and claws to alienate them) was performed on him, taking away his face and a hand, replacing them with a featureless mask and a gun... solely out of spite.
This is some crazy -blam!-.
