I vote yes. Fights come down to who gets the first shot in rather than who's better.

you must have some auto aim or it would be impossible to hit anyone. but halo 2 had a little too much. also i saw a post in another thread that had a video showing this. i looking 4 it now. http://media.putfile.com/h2in

Thats because everyone keeps getting better because of xbox live. If it wasnt for xbox live, everyone would suck, like they did in halo 1, and the people who played a lot would own, like they did in halo 1. Basically the auto-aim is not bad, you just keep dieing from people you think are noobs. So deal with it, they are as good as you. Auto-aim keeps this game from becoming a complete lag fest. Your never going to be able to own people like you did in halo 1, its not that the game got noobified, its that everyone got better. Adapt or die.

Ugh... The "who got shot first" stuff is not true. Sometimes in Ivory Tower, people would be running behind me shooting me with their SMG. I turn around, throw a grenade at the wall, and start shooting him and he's dead before me.

Unless you're shooting randomly, and not really caring if you're going to kill them or not, it's not about who gets shot first. Aim-assistance should stay as it is, since it'll be online enabled...

I think auto aim is needed. At least some is required. It was put into Halo 2 for a reason, Bungie didn't just stick it in for kicks. As someone who plays about 0.2 of a second behind the majority of the XBox Live population I need this to be able to hit anything. Without it everything with an accuracy weapon becomes a near miss, unless a fellow european has host.

Now the idea of dedicated hosts does not solve this because they would, most likely, be based in america. Which keeps the latancy.

I would love Bungie if they re-worked team Hardcore for Halo 3, remove auto-aim from Hardcore and the rectile in the middle of the screen and still no motion sensor, this would truly be hardocre, a little off topic but just another thing to think about.
I voted keep auto-aim the same, for normal matchmaking and campaign, but for hardcore remove it completely, this way every one is happy.

There needs to be some auto-aim, yes. We can all agree on that. Halo 1 had auto-aim, it was just much more subtle. But you CAN'T think that Halo 2's amount of auto-aim is justifiable when you can swing your sniper crosshairs madly over someone's head, pull the trigger, and get a headshot.

auto aim is needed, if you play campaign and try to attack each other(co-op) thats what multiplayer is like without autoaim.

Yeah I toatally agree... Bungie wants to make it so that way everyone can get what they want... In halo 1 if you first started playing you would get owned until you really understand how to play... In halo 2 it is way easier to be good because there is less skill required to aim.

Read my post above you. I'm not saying auto-aim should be eliminated, I'm saying it should be lowered. No other game on any system has anywhere close to as much auto-aim in Halo 2, and many of them that are played online have been perfectly fine without it as far as latency goes.
