Halo is just the subject matter. The character would stay the same, there would just be other things to explore, experience, discover. The "Halo" objective would be complete. How many concepts go on and on? Why the resistance to more Master Chief? It's not about "Halo" or the Halos, that is just a name that describes the rings in this particular time line. The Master Chief is just a character like Spiderman. After the Federation in Star Trek move into space the story doesn't end, after they fight the Klingons it doens't end, after they defeat the Founders it doens't end, after they defeat the Borg it doesn't end, after the Rebels defeat the Evil Empire in Star Wars it doesn't end, after Superman and the Justice League save the Earth for the umpteenth time it doesn't end, they go on and on in books, movies etc. Look, if they don't want to continue it because they can't be bothered then fine, but if it's because of a lack of imagination...that's something else. There is an infinite universe of story lines and plots that don't have to do with anything concerning Halos or the Covenant, let's move on... And if you haven't figuered it out, I don't care...there should be factions, those who support more Master Chief, and those who lack imagination.
