Both of these films are generally considered the best Batman films made by their directors.

But which of these two are better, in your opinion? For me, it definitely has to be the Dark Knight.

Every Character is better in TDK than in Batman. Batman himself is better portrayed, the Joker is better, Commissioner Gordon is much, much better ("We have to save Dent, I have to save dent" is one of the best lines in the movie) and so is Alfred.

As for the story? Again, TDK is much better. It's much more thought it, and not as cliche. In Batman it was just "Bad guy does bad stuff because he's bad" whereas in The Dark Knight, the Joker had a true purpose, to spread Anarchy and to show that even the best of people can turn bad. Much relating to the comic "The killing Joke" (And the people who say Heath's joker is nothing like the Comic joker are wrong because of this. lolsuck it)

The music? Again, I feel that TDK is better. Yes, Batman's (1989) theme is pretty awesome, but the theme for the TDK is just so much more epic.

tl;dr TDK > Batman (1989) in my opinion

The Dark Knight of course. People generally didn't take too well to The Dark Knight Rises but I preferred it though sad Heith Ledger couldn't play Joker cos he's dead...

But in comparison to 1989 Batman? Of course The Dark Knight is very far superior. Come one now, everyone thinks so. There's really no competition. The Dark Knight is gritty and awesome in every single way. The 1989 Batman? Hell, no. Why would anyone even think it could be???

You'd be suprised, there are actually quite a few people who believe the Burton films to be much superior.

Online Gaming's pretty much like a zombie movie. There are a lot of mindless idiots roaming around but you find some survivors on the way.

OT: The only redeemable aspect of Batman 1989 was the fact that Jack Nicholson was in it.

And he paled in comparison to Heath Ledger IMO.

I can't judge, I haven't seen the Burton or Schumacher films.

Agreed, the music is awesome. But the opening itself? Again, I prefer TDK. The Joker and a few men breaking into a bank, end up killing all of his men, to get all of the money, which in the end just buys a purple suit (for all we know anyway)

Tis crazy

*Face-Desk* I don't understand how. Mostly cos of Christian Bale's voice but I mean... Heith Ledger as Joker is impossible to argue with cos it's the best character literally ever.

I hear oh so little about Batman '89, but for years I've heard TDK being praised like the second coming of Christ. I saw it for the first time at the Dark Knight Trilogy showing leading up to TDKR, and I thought it was definitely over rated. It's a fantastic movie, but gets way too much praise.
