Whenever I shut down my Xbox (it's Halo 3 LE), the fan still runs for 15 or so seconds before finally stopping after the console's power button goes off. I noticed this after I got Halo 4.

Is it because the game is too epic for 360 standards and that my console wants to keep running it?

But seriously, it does that and not sure why. Is it because the game is pushing the 360 to its limits and my poor old Xbox is being a -blam!- about it?

Have you tried navigating to xbox.com?

"Wake me...when you need me."

It's not a problem. You must be loading your games on your HDD. When you do that, the auxiliary fan does not come on until after you power the system down. It's just your console venting excess heat.

She walks around and makes beaver noises.
What sound does a beaver make?
Wait...it's not a beaver. It's an otter noise.

Mine does the exact damn thing. It's done that for probably the last few months. I have no idea why. I mean, it doesn't seem to be hurting anything. I always stick around just to make sure the fan stops running though just in case...

It's just getting rid of extra heat quicker. You wouldn't want to return a few hours later to an xbox that's still warm, would you?

Ay, much obliged. Good to see the old thing still isn't succumbing to age/ red rings like a lot of vanilla consoles have.

I had this problem before and I have figured out a way to solve the issue. I just unplug the power cord for about a minute. When I plug it back in I then go to xbox.com and they help with the rest. Works every time!

Yea, I just wasn't sure why it was retaining more heat. I suppose the newer games of this year cause more heat buildup since they're pushing the original 360 engine to its limits.

Halo 4 was the only new game I got this year, though (not just due in part to my love for Halo, but financial issues), so I presume that's why it's only been happening with me recently.

I still have the "old" xbox from about three or so years ago. I thought it was just getting old. If it's just venting out extra heat then I shouldn't be too worried. First two boxes lasted about six months each. Had this one forever it seems like.

Not too surprised it's acting all retarded-like.

Yar, I had this guy for 4.5 years, so I was curious if the age might be the issue, since red rings and other problems like -blam!- up motherboards would be possible future quirks that may arise.

Mine also does it. It the original white 360. I think it does that to vent out heat.

Butt ugly ape” remarked Sergeant Johnson always making fun out of the situation even though he had been hit by a spiker round in the arm. He mustered up the strength to continue and the team moved on. The Arbiter informed him that the next room held The Prophet of Truth and this was the final room before extraction. Jun proposed that he takes a shot from a distance the prophet and they all head back to the ship bay for extraction. The team agreed on this and breached the last door…

Its regular.

Not at all. You should be a.o.k. Keep loading whichever few games you are currently playing on your HDD and your console's life cycle will be GREATLY extended.
